Additionally, there are at least two different kinds of internet trolls.

Conventional thinking says that an internet troll is "One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument."

Alternately, 'trolls' can just be short-bus riding individuals who genuinely believe the ignorant, uneducated opinions that they post. When these 'trolls' realize that they look like complete idiots, they may attempt to play the whole thing off as a joke (or 'trolling') in order to evade humiliation, thus passing themselves off as the first variety of trolls.

Thus the first variety of trolls are people who act retarded in order to cause disruption, while the second variety of trolls consists of people who are genuinely retarded but attempt to convince people that it is only an act.

Knowing the difference could save your life! Now go forth into the abyss that is the Internet!

Troll has different meanings, I remember when I was a youngster and thought that the mean looking guy collecting the tolls for crossing the bridge was the troll. How thing change with time.

Anyone who swims against the stream is referred to as a troll on this ,and probably all, forums. I was called a troll for stating that I am absolutely opposed to all sport hunting.
Do people really think that if you love edged weapons, you should also be a cowardly dumbasx killer of defenseless species? Any enemies I have all walk on two legs...and I don't mean kangaroos.

This right here is a perfect example of a textbook troll statement.

Trolling is often just dissent that threatens the membership of some group. It may be inadvertent and merely the product of a person the refuses to accept received wisdom regardless of the costs to a group. A right answer can be regarded as trolling just as easily as a wrong answer to a fragile group that prizes unanimity. On that, the term “troll” is often used to beat down dissent rather like how the darkest bullies are quick to label someone a bully. Tagging someone with an epithet like that serves a function as the label means no actuality needs to be addressed. Basically, it's a cheap response. Genuine trolling or malicious trolling is a sport and a totally different can of worms. A good example would be having a grasp of Poe's Law deciding to show up on some religious forum and wind them up a bit. Some other thoughts on trolling are here.

I would imagine you think that, because you strongly disagree with it, and doubtless consider my statement to be outrageous , over the top and very hostile.
Well it certainly is impolite and is very critical of the 'sport' of hunting, but I'm not sure why it should be considered a "textbook troll statement" unless you believe that most knive collectors are inextricably connected to hunting and therefore would be offended by my statement. [ and of course you could be right about that]

I explained your feelings to my dog and she leaned over and farted, not quite sure what that means.

I call 'em tools, NOT weapons. But to each their own.

Also, most hunters I know EAT what they kill (even feral hogs). Not really "sport hunting" unless you're leaving them there to rot imho. Then you have the population control hunters provide certain species. The midwest is being overrun by deer due to lack of hunting. Not to mention the Feral hog problem in many places...

    Troll.

"There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter."

Seems to me it would be a better world if we only killed animals. I never lost sleep over a deer.

If one is able to present an argument with out any level of insult then they look far less like a troll than you do now.

Im assuming with a statement as bold as that you are a vegan, possibly with a degree in professional trolling ?

You were called a troll, not for your views, but because of the arrogant, condescending way you insulted others with a holier-than-thou attitude.

    relevent thread.

If you're against hunting, or against eating meat, or vegan, or whatever, nobody here will fault you for it, or will even really give a damn (especially if you don't mention it). But if you try cramming your agenda and opinions down our throats, and call us a "cowardly dumabsx (sic)", then that is pure trolling.
