Joe H. would be knowledgable about that stamp as those are the models he collects. DM

Here you go. Contact with Joe should put an end to any speculation. I sent a message to the seller about the knife and who it was that authenticated it. Here's his reply:

    "Dear plumberdv,

His name was Joe (I think) he is married to the Buck grand daughter, they were both at the Eugene Oregon knife show and are a part of the business. They had a wonderful collection of the lucite handled Buck knives at the show. I'm sure there would be some way to contact them through the Buck club and he will remember my knife, the knife show was just last week end April 14th - 15th. I guarantee you this knife is 100% genuine.

Here are a few. The knife looks to be legit to me. But since Joe may have looked at the knife in person, he would be able to know for sure.

    Thank you Dave & David.

Four eye-poppers HK. No balloon font tang stamps visible.

    Authentication tests:
    1. File-sourced, carbon (highly rustable), clip point blade steel.
    2. Aluminum birds-head hilt and aluminum spacers.
    3. Lucite stacked handle.
    4. BUCK stamp or etch on tang.
    5. Anatomical shape to lucite handle (not square).
    6. Guard extends above and below blade.

Don't forget to contact Joe. If, as it's alleged, he had a first hand look at the knife he will be the one to have the most accurate acessment of it.

Thank you kind Dave. Joe is hyper competent. Maralee taught him everything he knows. A world-class team.

    BTW, I dodged that bullet...
