I'm fighting the urge, too. Up to now I've justified my purchases with the excuse of "I don't have one to fill that role yet." Now it's pretty hard to use that excuse. My one rule is that whatever I purchase I must be planning to use, not just hang on a wall.

SOMEBODY! Please help me find another type of axe that I need!

In addition to bear's pugent sound recommendation, I highly recommend a true Rockaway pattern and a Scandinavian carpenter's axe if you don't have some already!

I'm off of Connecticut's now. My latest kick is Half wedge doubles. This one is Marsh & Sons, Oakland Maine. The handle has an imprint on it as well.

    Unknown maker.

cooperhill, that thing is bad! The stamp on the end of the handle is too cool.

Memphis, do you know who made that Rockaway? I've got a very similar one with pointed lugs. For some reason I think that it's a Mann, but there's no stamp or anything.
