Sure would love to see some pictures of them! It might help some of the experts here identify them too.
We have 2 old Helle S&S Norge knives that have metal sheaths. I can not find one single bit of information on any with metal sheaths. Everything I find has some kind of leather sheath. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tedde
People are asking for pictures. I haven't figured out how to get them from my iPhone to this message. I guess I could send them to individual people if anyone wants but I'd also like to include them here. I'll work on it.
Thank you Esav Benyamin, I'm trying your suggestion, below, to show the pictures.

Please post pictures of your knives in this thread.
BRL...
I'd love to see them as well. Not aware of all-metal Helle sheaths. Here is a link with pictures of some Helle knives with partial metal sheaths.

In addition, Helle sold/sells lots of blade blanks for the DIYs. Could your knives+sheaths have been custom made using Helle blades?

The blades may be Helle, but the rest of the knife isn`t necessary made by Helle.
Lots of gold/silver smiths made/make knives with metal (mostly pewter or silver) sheats (and sometimes even metal handles).
But without pics....
I have 2 pictures in my iPhone, not my computer. I don't know how to include them and will have to see if I can figure out how to do it. I see the "insert image" icon but I don't think that links to my iPhone. Any suggestions how to do that?
You can't "insert image" without a Gold membership. You don't need it to post pictures. Set up an account at www.photobucket.com and they will accept pictures downloaded from a phone. If I recall correctly, they have you email the picture to your Photobucket account.
Once the pictures are on Photobucket, they provide each with 4 URLs. Use the bottom one, with the [IMG] tags. Click on it to Copy, then Paste it in a post in this thread.
I also have a Helle knife in an all metal sheath.
Helle provides blades for Anre Haugrud, a company that makes pewter and silver items. They market knives with all metal sheaths, and sheaths with fancy pewter and/or silver mountings.

My guess would be that these are collaborations between Helle and Haugrud, or some similar company. The Haugrud knives I’ve seen were marked Haugrud on both the blade and sheath, but the Helle I have with a metal sheath is marked “EIK NORWAY” on the sheath, and Helle on the blade.
The markings you describe probably put it back to the 60’s or earlier, but you’ll need to post good pictures. .
Best regards,

It appears to be leather. I just posted a picture, finally, it only shows a little in the top one.
I'm new to this so not sure if I'm supposed to answer everyone's questions or if you all keep checking my updates. I added a picture and later someone (Ragnar) added some more specific information that may answer your question.

Seeing the pics of the knife I don`t believe it is a silver/gold smiths work. My guess is that they are homemade.
The engravings on the sheath look just like my own work with pewter when I went to school many years ago (lines are made by "wobbling" the engraving tool).
A pro would "cut" out the lines, just like the ones you see at the Haugerud web page.
