The knife was donated from Spyderco for us to play with. It can be yours for a week. All you have to do is pay for shipping to the next person.
This is the perfect size Calypso in my opinion. See the attached photo.
Its arrival over a decade ago as a mid-sized folder has spawned numerous variations and converted legions of knife buyers to the benefits of flat-ground, thick leaf-shaped blades. This is a workingman's or woman's folder founded on the premise that a comfortable, usable pocketknife is one that feels like a natural extension of your hand.
A larger, newer Bionic version of the original Calypso Jr. is the Caly3.5. The latest Calypso progeny has a three and a half inch VG-10 leaf-shaped blade that is thick at the tang, then tapering to a tip. The cutting edge is flat-ground and thin for precision and receptive cutting. Ergonomics and control were taken into the designs' consideration and where handle and blade meet is a substantial finger choil. This is the spot where the index finger settles ergonomically leading the thumb to naturally position itself directly above on the blade's spine. Also the spine is textured with slip resistant jimping making the knife feels like part of the hand with no sliding forward or backward while cutting. The black G-10 handle has a mid-positioned back lock and a low profile wire clip, holding the folder deeply in a pocket facing tip-up.
Rules:
This will be open to any 18+ year old member but is restricted to those who have been bladeforums members at least six months, and folks within the US only, sorry.

Pass order will be sign up order. Pass limited to first ten people.
It is up to you to make sure you comply with all laws to legally receive, possess, and ship the knife.
Post here that you are interested and then PM your info to me: (A- forum name, B- real name, C- address, D- email address, and E- phone number.)
You Must Post here when you receive it and keep the knife for a few days, but no more than one week max.
You accept responsibility for the knife and you accept that it is your responsibility to get it to the next person. Do not throw the knife, or use it to pry or hammer or do any type of test (“spine whack”) that would damage it. You break it, you buy it. If it needs sharpening, sharpen it unless you just don’t feel confident in your sharpening skills. Please clean it and/or wipe it off before mailing it on.
PM the next person in line to get their address but also to alert them that the package is ready to ship. Package well in a box (not in an envelope) with sufficient padding that the contents do not rattle and sufficient tape that it stays secure.
(Yes, the moderator already has the address of the next person, but you go ahead and handle this. There are good reasons.)
Notify the passaround moderator if there is a problem or delay.
You Must Post here when you mail it on.
Use USPS Priority with Delivery Confirmation or other secure, trackable type of postage. It is your responsibility to make sure it is delivered to the next person.
Note: it is absolutely critical that you agree to communicate when you receive it and when you send it on. Failure to do this causes problems. Communication is very important.

This knife is on its way to jhyde7585
Got it today.
First impressions? Smaller than I thought it would be (3.5" blades typically come in a bigger overall package) But I kinda like it. Very "pen knife ish" feel. Not scary or intimidating in any way, but in a good, unexpected way. I like the blade to handle ratio, it seems almost strange how much blade you get compared to handle size, especially because the blade is so much broader than the handle profile.
All in all, Im glad I got to handle this one, it has certainly changed my views on the series. Great f&f too.
That being said, I do not seeing myself getting the Caly 3, as the handle on the 3.5 is already a bit small for me.

Just received the Caly a few minutes ago. It feels good in the hand. Guess I didn't realize it was a lockback. First impression is good. Fit an finish are excellent. I'll post more after I play with it for a while.
