Caly shipped out 5/30/12 to shandrydan1.

This is an excellent knife. I love the looks and feel of the Calypso 3.5. It took a trip with me to Nashvegas to meet up with my daughter, son-in-law and my best buddy(grandson). All the normal everyday tasks I put it through were easy for it to handle. It was used for opening boxes, mail, cutting apples & peaches, cutting GB ties, and even some PE hose I use at work. Only took a few licks to sharpen it back up.

One thing I really liked was the jimping on both the top and bottom of the blade. That feature made it very comfortable to hold and use. More knives should have that as it made it easy for anyone to handle the knife well.

There were a couple of big cons for me. I couldn't get over the way the clip was. Guess I'm so used to having it tip down plus there was no option to change it. Except the clip could be put on the back of the same side.
The other thing I couldn't get used to was the lockback, so used to liner locks. Most times I need to have one hand operation of my knives. I found that I pulled out my EDC necker instead of the Caly because it could be done with one hand.

This knife will not be on my "Must Have" list. I feel very neutral about it, although I am glad to have the chance to play with it. Overall the knife is top rate, just not for me. Hope y'all like it.

I just received the Caly. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. I was kinda expecting not to like it very much because of its slim handle but first impression tells me this would make a great edc. The fit and finish are excellent and it rides very well in the pocket with the lowrider wire clip. I think probably my only real concern would be the pinned construction over screws. I will post with any other thoughts after I have carried and used it a few days.

After a few busy days with Blade and other things going on I finally got some time to sit down and write up some thoughts after carrying the Caly for a few days.

First off, it is very easy to edc. With its light weight, slim profile, and good ergos at first I thought it would make one of the best edc's I have carried in a while. The thin flat ground blade make is one heck of a slicer. I used it for most normal tasks which included mail opening, box cutting, and some light food prep. As far as the function of the knife itself it was flawless and worked great for everything I used it for.

The lockback was solid and it locked up tight and was smooth opening and closing. Another plus was Spyderco's jimping and grippy G10. When you held it it just seemed like it locked in place and was ready for use.

All that being said, I dont think it is a knife I could actually use and carry all the time. I tend to prefer carrying folders lately that have a little more heft to them. If I wanted a more slimline lightweight edc it might be an option but even then I think I might go with a Sage. I think the biggest thing that stood out to me was the pin construction. I dont make a habit of taking my knives apart on any schedule or anything for cleaning because in most cases a good rinse works just fine. Sometimes though, I have found myself needing to take the knife apart. Its not a complete deal breaker but it definitely would have an impact when I was looking at other knives at the same price point.

I would like to extend my thanks at being able to participate in the passaround and for the chance to try out the Caly 3.5.

I got the caly last night. So far its been awesome. I think I might get one of these. Ifthey ever made a 3.5 in the sage 1 cf Id definitely get it.

It arrived today! My first impression is that it is a decent knife. When open, the handle ergonomics remind me of my mini-AFCK that fits my hand so well. Opening the knife is a bit awkward due to the stiff action of the blade. Loosening the pivot screw enough to smooth out the action a little bit induced considerable side-to-side play in the blade. The knife feels the most comfortable in the hand when you choke up and use the finger choil, but I don't feel comfortable having my finger millimeters from the blade with no protection.

I'll carry it for a few more days and then post a more thorough review.

Just to let yall know, I will not be home from the 8th-12th, I am coming back on the 13th. That shouldn't be a problem if loonybin keeps the knife for the full week and then sends it out to me. I will keep an eye on the tracking info though

Good to know. If I mail it on the 10th (my next day off), it should arrive on the 13th, so it won't be sitting in your mailbox for a couple days waiting for someone to steal it.
