Mr Emerson, what is your opinion on the whole 'drop of loctite' on the pivot screw idea?

If you are wondering if that's going to void your warranty or something, no, it won't. Just make sure to use blue loctite or even just plumbers tape.

    IMO highly recommended.

As much as I love my Emersons they have all come pretty rough and tumble from the factory, more so than any other knifes i've bought. By that I mean grit in the pivot and harsh deployment out the box. I have meticulously taken apart cleaned every one with soapy water, dried and wax polished all the metal parts and re-assembled with a moderate amount of (blue) loktite in the main pivot for the win. All of my Emersons have really benefited from this and I have had zero problems with them post TLC treatment, plus it offers me a good opportunity to bond with them.

Plumbers tape is galvanized steel strapping that comes in a roll. I think you meant teflon tape. Locktite is actually better, teflon tape is for pipes not bolts.

I did mean telfon tape but I thought it said something else on the role for some reason but couldn't remember, my bad.

No doubt loctite works better but teflon tape is easier to work with. Especially for someone who is worried about putting loctite in the pivot.

Might as well be asking if you can sharpen/clean the knife yourself but okay.

Why don't you just call the company and ask? I think we all use blue loctite on our pivots. Kinda seems silly asking the owner of the company such a basic question but then again, I called up the head of GM and asked them what grade of oil to use in my car.

Way to make friends Toesnose, the people on here are trying to help you, on the emerson website they suggest you put a drop of loctite on it, and it being emerson website, I bet he might have a little bit of a say so on what info goes on there. Or I could be wrong and he hates loctite and all his employees are just out to get him. Hey toesnose, Is your next question going to be how does mr emerson like the chisel grind or How does mr. emerson like 154cm. LOL it's all in good fun buddy I had to do it.

Hey,I'm not trying to offend anyone here ,I've read a hundred threads on this and that...my question was not a general one,it was specifically for Mr Emerson, just wanted to know his 5c on this topic, instead I get bombarded with couch experts(no offense to anyone specifically),I actually thought it was quite clear...not serious, just curious, haha

"No offense", but if you really want Mr. Emersons (and apparently ONLY his) opinion about something so trivial then you should contact him/his company directly instead of posting on a public forum and making condescending remarks. While you are at, it why don't you contact the CEO of Loctite and see how he feels about putting his product in knife pivots.:jerk it:

Couch experts? I don't broadcast this and very few on the forums know this about me but I did 2 tours in Iraq and and I had an emerson knife in my pocket the whole time so I believe I am entitled to tell you a thing or two about emerson knives, what are your qualifications, a few nutnfancy or other youtube videos? then you come in this forum not even being a member for a month and you have 12 posts and you insult other members, looks like you are the one that needs to move along and find somewhere else to post? It's called respect.
