Yes, this is good tequila and not too pricey.

As others have mentioned, if it doesn't say "100% agave" ... just move on.

As it was explained to me many years ago by a store owner in Mexico, Anejo's for sipping, Respado's for shots (salt and lime) and silver for mixing. My wonderful Cunado gives my a bottle of Cazadores every year when we visit Mexico!

I KNOW this won't fall into your inexpensive requirement.... BUT, the BEST sipping tequila I have ever had, in Jose Cuervo Reserva de Familia. It is put out once a year, in a decorated by some famous artist box, and it is the absolute BEST tequila that I have ever had. I have no idea what it is going for now, but when I got mine, it was already about $90 a bottle. I am sure it is much more than that now. It is worth it, whatever the cost. NOT for brother's in law though... way too good for that. Only for the bestest of your life long friends, and maybe only special occasions.
No, no. If you shoot Mongo, you'll just make him mad.

If you want something really cheap, El Jimador is the best. For a a little more money, there is Corralejo and Don Julio. I just bought a bottle of Magave which scored higher than Patron and Don Julio, but I haven't tried it yet. Comes in a neat bottle.

Yup +1000 on what raiderfan says. There is no shortage of high end Tequila, what you are looking for is the stuff that people in the "know" have and use as a house Tequila. Jimador, Corralejo, Heradura, Tres Generaciones.... all are excellent Tequilas that won't break the bank but are hard to distinguish from their higher $$ counter parts. They all have different characteristics so I would try them and see which one agrees with you.... Sounds like a fun mission to undertake.

I'm definitely interested in trying the Magave.

I haven't replaced the bottle I finished, so I don't know the current price, but for sipping my favorite has been Chinaco. Not easy to find, though. Granted, I'm nowhere near Mexico...

Try and find a bottle of Maestro Dobel. It is a blend of reposado, anejo, and extra anejo then filtered clear. It is one of the best tequilas I have ever had. For a little bit cheaper the El Jimador and Gran Centenario line ups are all delicious.

Cazadores Anejo is my recommendation. I get it for about $35.

    Cheers!

The Kirkland Anejo is good...but the Magave anejo is the best I'v had, I used to drink don Julio 1942 but for 1/3 the price Magve smokes it. Even if the price were the same I still think the Magave is better. Costco for 32.99....cant beat it

If you know someone that has a card, give them cash to buy a gift card and your good.

If you live in california, they have to let you buy alcohol even if you don't have a membership card. I believe its because any retail establishment that sells alcohol has to sell to the general public.

I have found El Tesoro de Don Felipe Silver to be
a bit off the beaten track and an exceptionally good
    cost to taste quality ratio.

Compares favorably to tequilas costing much more.
