And once again, peace and tranquility have finally returned to our dear land... where well meaning, (mostly) open-minded beings can converse (kinda') cordially and (sorta') politely in the attempt to challenge each other's positions, and more importantly, to challenge their own positions to try to gain new knowledges and information to better themselves (and to straighten out those who've got it all wrong).

    And the people rejoiced...

    Lot of this lately....

Getting re-elected has nothing to do with whether one is right, or even good. It depends 100% on the caliber and rationale of the people who are doing the re-electing. These idiots will elect a famous person because they're famous....they'll elect a spouse when the person running dies....they'll elect someone as a reward for something completely unrelated to the job.....they'll elect one person to "get back" at another person or group.....they'll elect someone because they belong to a particular grouping....they'll elect someone because he's more "attractive", "likeable", "newer", "eloquent", "hip", etc., etc., etc. And they'll elect someone because they are lost in a delusional world of fantasy, transported there by marketing more ferocious than the most insidious consumer product they can imagine.

In short, they'll elect people for any reason other than "this person can demonstrably do the job right". Most voters regard their right to vote not as a civic duty; but as more of a juvenile power play.

So please stop with the "ZOMG, just U gize wayt until November; Obama's gonna come and show U, he'll fix everything, LOLZ!!!! :-) :-P"

Wait a minute. Obama poured water on the fires that Bush started.

We had to spend money to bail us out of the Bush recession and continue to pay for the Bush wars......no gasoline involved, just some history-making smart clean-up of a pathetic mess.

What choice did he have? I mean, if you have a suggestion, trot it out, but I don't see any viable alternatives to what he did.

It wasn't "Obama" spending and one should not so characterize it......it was made inevitable by Bush mismanagement--he failed to regulate the banks, he started two unfunded wars and granted excessive tax cuts that put us into the worst financial trouble since the Great Depression.

This "Blame Obama" thing really does not make sense.

How's that bail out working out for us? I guess we can be happy with this great economy that the obama has created? While you are at it you can explain to us how we get out of debt by spending record amounts of money.

Also, we are going to have to be patient and wise.

When Obama saved the auto industry he saved millions of jobs.......enough so that had he not acted we could now be in a depression.

I know this is a generation that has lost touch with deferred gratification, but they will have to learn that it will take many years to fix the mess Bush left.

There is no "quick fix." There is no magic bullet. We can't push a remote-control button and change the channel. This is real life.

As the failure of austerity measures in most of Europe shows, we must invest in America to recover, not restrict our strategy to cuts.

The success of Sweden's moderate and mixed program of tax increases, military cuts and cuts in government spending should teach us.

It sounds a lot like the mixed and moderate program that Obama wants.

You call six trillion dollars in wasteful spending on government boondoggles a moderate program? Come on. The obama will have spent six trillion dollars by the time his first (and hopefully only) term is up and we will have fewer jobs than when he took office. If you want jobs you need to find someone else to vote for.

The obama has shown no willingness to cut any government spending (with the exception of course of the military) and he has shown no willingness to shrink the size of government as the Swedes have done whatsoever. On the contrary with his obamacare grab at power he is doing exactly what Sweden is slowly moving away from.

What we really want to know is how long it will take to fix the mess that the obama will leave.

    ?????

Both GM and Chrysler filed bankruptcy anyway, the bailouts were meaningless. Ford didn't take the bailout and did better than the other two, except for owebama "encouraging" them not to play certain commercials.

I understand that it's extremely difficult to shake off firmly held and familiar ideological convictions and myths, but the auto industry is now healthy......like it or not.......it's improved and healthy and that's a fact.

It was dying under Bush.......now it is thriving under Obama.

Please enlighten us on the dastardly acts Bush perpetrated on the auto makers?

They were dying and it was on his watch......but there's probably some way to explain that.

    I'll concede your excellent point.
