Wonder if anyone have any experience in buying knives from eBay in Malaysia. I am from Penang Island, Malaysia. Is there any restriction? I am interested in items like multitool ( Victorinox One hand trekker plain edge, Leatherman wave ), liner lock folders ( Ontario rat 1 plain and combo version ) and some fixed blade knife ( which at the moment is a kabar next gen knife 7inch plain edge and a bear grylls ultimate survival knife plain edge).
And what type of knives are illegal to own and carry in Malaysia. The law seems very unclear to me. Was told that one need a permit to own a knife above 6 inch ( even knife a lot larger than 6 inch can be easily purchase almost every where from street shop to hardware shop ) but cant find out where to get the permit. And what type of knives are legal to carry? Was told anything below 3 inch is OK. I currently carry Leatherman super tool and a cheap liner lock folder with thumb stud (less than 3 inch made in china which is surprisingly good ) as my edc.
Lastly saying hi to every one in blade forum after being away for long time.

Macbeth, i'm from Sarawak and I am wondering the same question. I currently carry Sanrenmu 939 which has 3.2" blade and one or two more in the range of 2" to 3". But I am currently surveying to buy a FKMD Profilia Folder of 4.++" blade. I am not sure that it will pass custom since this is the first time I am going to import a knife. So....

I have lived in Indonesia for the past 5yrs and have not been able to buy knives here in country that are up to Spyderco quality. My family and I are coming to Malaysia in a couple weeks and I too would like to know about Ebay Malaysia or if there are stores where Spyderco products can be purchased?
Thanks for your time and any help neighbors!
    (Terima kasih atas bantuan tetenggaku!)

    Hi Guys,

I'm from Sarawak. Nice to know we have fellow Malaysia & Sarawakian here. I'm from Kuching.

I have been buying knives from the USA either here or ebay. I have not encountered any problem with Customs. I used DHL & also USPS EMS service for the knives and so far they got through. I own a few folders Striders SMG SNG & Hinderers XM18 XM24. Now I'm thinking of bringing in fixed blades. I wonder will it go through Customs smoothly.

Let me know if any of you guys have gotten the fixed blades passed Customs.
