Sorry, do not see it that way. A fake would not have reverse marking and the sheath is real as well.

The reverse marking is the compass, square and maltese cross - which this maker used. The opposite side of the makers name marking - which "modern font" as some say - seems earily similar to font on a knife posted here recently that seems to be blessed as a "good blade". Back to this knife. The knife construction is correct - yes there were many of these types of knives made with these style handles - bowies in fact as well. Patina is good. sheath is good. It is not a high value item, not highly desireable, nor extremely valuable. These were never meant to be hard working knives. With that all being said, it would not make sense for someone to even attempt to put all the effort into faking this knife; and then mating it with the correct size and style of a period sheath.
You are deeply confused.
There is not ONE style of hollow nickel silver handle (mistakenly called 'cutlery' handle by semi-literate collectors).
There are MANY styles.
Some used only on bowies and dirks.
Some used only on table cutlery.
A very few (2-3) used on both.
This one is a table cutlery type, a MODERN table cutlery type.
