Pretty funny. Being in the asparagus capital, I eat it quite often, never found a frog in mine though. Plenty of catapillars, and bugs though. But I never buy it from the store, I always buy my produce farm fresh when possible, and always get asparagus farm direct. It just spoils too quickly.

I've heard that it is actually cleansing some of the junk out of your body which makes it smell.

Well, not really. It does work as a diuretic, but the smell is from your body breaking it down into sulfur-containing compounds. It does not affect everyone, and also not everyone can smell it even if they do produce the sulfur compounds.

A farmers tip for keeping asparagus in your fridge, place a plate with several papertowels folded and soaked with water in the fridge, stand the 'grass up on the paper towels. This will keep them from drying out and the ends becoming "woody." Never leave it in the plastic bag from the store, and remove the heavy rubber band and replace with a twist-tie to stop bruising.
