They sand blast. Not sure of the media.
People always say its bead blasted, but it's not. Maybe that helps? Haha
Hello Gang! (used lightly considering we all carry knives)
Does anyone have an idea what CRK uses to blast their Titanium? Is it glass bead, glass abrasive, garnet, aluminum oxide?
I used fine aluminum oxide to clean up my clip (the clip was a mess and I should have taken before photos). The finish is nice but isn't exact. At first glance many wouldn't notice, but my OCD prevents me from completely enjoying the result. I'm guessing whatever material used it's not "fine", but maybe medium or coarse. I'm guessing the later will give me the profile I'm looking for?
Anyone know?....anyone?...anyone?....Bueller?
BTW, the screws in the photos are the replacement screws CRK sent me, and they ROCK!I put the final finish on them but the base finish was perfect, and so are the hex holes. The reverse is carbon....my favorite EDC...so far.

It really depends on the lifespan of the media used. If, for instance, it is sand media. When it is freshly changed in the sand blaster, the texture is rougher than say a month later when the sand breaks down and gets dirtier. Ive had 3 sebenzas, my latest one is the "roughest" finish i've had. When CRK blasts knives and clips in the spa, theyre done all the same time, so the finish matches.
They're sandblasted. I don't know the exact type or PSI used, but I recently sandblasted some Ti at about 110 PSI, and I had nearly an identical finish (and feel) to my Sebenza.
My guess is that they are using glass bead vs. sand. Grit (course vs fine) and air pressure setting will change the look/feel of the finished surface. Bet you could call CRK and they would tell you...if you really want to know to get exactly the original "LOOK".
