In that case, I want the blue.

I'd go for the forest or dark green, from this list. Not sure if that's possible?

Impressive comeback by Shark Gray -- tied with Blue with 9 votes apiece as of this post!

If the result winds up being Shark Gray, I think that a DLC coated blade with GRAY, not white, blade markings would look the best.

Shark Gray handles with uncoated blade is going to be too much gray I think.

    Can you anodize aluminum WHITE??!?!?

Imagine a white handle, black hardware, DLC blade with white markings. Now that would be unique!!

The HTM Custom Shop "Urban Camo" pattern that Hark posted a thread on a while back had white and gray as the handle colors. IIRC, the pattern was achieved by anodizing the handle a single color and then blasting portions of it. The white is likely the anodized portion and the gray is the blasted portion, but regardless of which way it is, they were able to make the color.

I agree that the color scheme you suggested would look cool if gray ends up winning, but given the massive lead the stonewashed option has in the blade finish poll, I don't think it'll happen this time around.

Still, though, it's a really cool idea -- especially the black blade with the white handles -- and I'd be in for one if we made it happen somewhere down the road. It's sort of the knife equivalent of wearing a black shirt and white tie instead of the usual white shirt and black tie! Very unique, like you said!

I'm calling it the Tuxedo layout

I'd rather see a white blade and black handles. Cause black blades are just so...tacticool.

Kinda cool but not a fan of the camo-like patters. Can we do a Stonewashed blade???

EDIT: I clicked "just not the yellow" but now I want the grey because blue is a little to bright for a knife (same reason why I didnt get the M390 Para2). So if you can add one to the grey and take one away from the "anything but yellow."

Looks like we have a very close contest between Shark Gray and Blue. I'm going to keep the poll open for a couple more days: if you haven't voted yet, please vote. Also, if you already voted for one of the other options but have a preference between Shark Gray and Blue, please post in the comments saying which of those you'd prefer.

Well, ya know neuron, maybe we should hold out for dark/hunter/forest green. That would probably run away with most of the votes

Haha, knowing Darrel and his expansive definition of "green", I'm worried that at the end of our wait we'd end up with handles that are neon pink or something else ridiculous like that.

Well, perhaps we can put Dirk or Hark in charge of identifying whether or not it counts as green.

Also, on an unrelated note, check out the AXD that Darrel put up on Facebook. WOW!

Looks like there hasn't been much movement, and things are still neck-and-neck between Shark Gray and Blue. I'm inclined to call it in favor of Blue for reasons similar to those mentioned in the main discussion thread in the context of CTS-XHP vs. Elmax, namely that Blue will make the knife more unique. There are a handful of other blue-handled knives out there, but it's nowhere near as common as black or gray, and nearly all of those blues are a significantly lighter/brighter shade (e.g., the Smurf Blue G-10 that's been used on various Spydercos and the Kershaw/ZT Forum Skyline, or the bright blue FRN and Valox used by Spyderco and Benchmade, respectively).

    Thoughts?

Probably not. Dirk's shop is now in NC, and we all know how great Darrel's photo taking skills are. And me, well I only see stuff through pictures and relay info back to everyone else. If you really want the green, find a panetone.

    Pantone 3435 (Evergreen)

or 356 (Dark Emerald, for those who want a lighter green)

Those would both suit, methinks. Also 343, which I think is technically forest green.

    My preference would be 3435.

I'm definitely on board for one of those, especially 3435 (Evergreen). I'm going to be out of town with limited internet access between tonight (Monday night) and July 1. So maybe in that time Hark could give Darrel the color code and we could get some sample handles in that color made. Then after I get back we could make a final call on the handle color and get an order thread started.

Okay, so I got word from Darrel. It's just as I suspected. He can't really make a test batch for the color, but if you guys want to go with fate, he is willing to go with the panetone color for ano. But I mean, the result could be hit or miss. I would think that since you guys have a panetone number, it should be pretty close, but who knows.

I really like a darker green like the forest green shown above in a post. That for me is better than the shark gray I voted for.

I am pretty close to wanting to go with fate. I think the color turns out lighter, generally, than how it looks on a computer screen.

I'd be interested to find out the pantones that got used for the various handles, so we can get an idea for how it would happen. Since neuron's out of town, should we just make a different poll to get people's opinions?
