yep ive had no issues with rust what so ever...

I work in a very wet/salty environment, haven't had any serious issues with my swamp rats. I have had worse results from some stainless steels oddly enough. Just remember to wipe your knife off if you go swimming in the ocean.

so what you are saying is that a becker bk7 will not do what a swamp rat will i beg to differ bud the beckers are the best knives ever made and they are made to beat the snot out of just my personal preference why spend three hundred dollars when i can spend 80 on my bk7 and it will do the same thing.

I started with beckers and moved up to Busses. I still think beckers are the best bang for your buck on the market, without excepton

Greetings and welcome to the Swamp Rat Knife Forum!

Posts in threads on almost EVERY internet forum are placed in chronological order (the order in which they are received). If you post a reply to something on page 1 of a 4-page thread, your reply will appear on the bottom of page 4, or the top of page 5. You may also want to note the DATE of the post you are replying to - this is a (nearly) 4-month-old thread on a topic that has been rehashed many times over. Perhaps you'd like to go through all old threads regarding this same topic and add your opinion? Such practices are generally frowned upon. However, if you do decide to go through these older threads, I encourage you to READ first, get an idea of why individuals prefer one to the other. Keep an open mind, there is a lot to be learned - about the knives, the makers, and even the physics relevant to the subject.

Have fun and enjoy your time

chiral has the best advice for this situation. Most of us have a wide variety of knives to use and test, either owned and or borrowed so we have a good idea of their strengths and weaknesses.

I have Becker, ESEE, Swamp Rat, and Busse, and I love them all in spite of it all,

.....I don't think ANYONE has said the Beckers wont handle a beating, just as well as the Swampys perhaps.... can't say agree that the Beckers are "the best" knife ever made as the criteria used to decide such a glorious title has yet to be spelt out. Needless to say *I* own many more Busse/Swampy/Scrapper blades than any other brand, that said I would happily go bush (I do this with some regularity) with only a Becker and not be in fear of my life as a result, I just prefer something different to you my friend. Like blondes v redheads v well....you get the idea...

Badblade. Try a swamp rat sometime, then give a follow up. You live fairly close, I live just outside New Orleans. If you are ever in the area I have a few you can use.

Also on a side note. Try a period or comma every now and then. It makes reading threads much easier.

We're running awfully close to some cross-manufacturer bashing. Swamp Rat et al, stands on their own merit without the need to do comparisons to other manufacturers. If you want to continue discussing Becker, it would best be served in the Becker subforum or in general. It would be no more appropriate to go to the Becker forum and laud that Busse being the best blades ever. As knife knuts, we are fortunate to have a large enough consumer market to support a number of different manufacturers with their own respective merits and design features.

Keep it civil, please. This will be the only warning.

    Mate,

    For Swamp Rat knives: http://www.swampratknifeworks.com/
For Scrap Yard knives (sister company, same quality different handle & designs): http://www.scrapyardknives.com/intro.htm
For Busse (the parent company, different steel and much higher prices): http://www.bussecombat.com/home/index.shtml

The business model is way different than your average knife producers, first there is announcement, then you place your order (you get to choose blade finish, handle material) and then you wait. You could say that those are semi-custom knives.

Secondary market: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/fo...nives-For-Sale and the popular auction site.

Take your time, read up, learn, and after that start expressing your opinions...

And as Gravelface said, you should work on your punctuation...
