Had to share this story. As a father of a young daughter this is something I always fear and recognize as a threat. What he did is what needed to be done and as a result there will be no more victims. God bless the U.S.A.

Here is where the story is.

Sheriff's deputies in Texas won't file charges against a father who they say beat an acquaintance to death after allegedly catching him sexually abusing the man's 4-year-old daughter.

During a social gathering on Saturday, the girl went inside the family's home in Shiner while other members of the family were tending to horses outside, CNN reported.

The father caught a 47-year-old man -- with whom he was casually acquainted -- attempting to molest his daughter, Lavaca County Sheriff Micah Harmon told the Victoria Advocate. The father then allegedly punched the man in the head until he died, Harmon reported.

The father and daughter weren't named to protect the identity of the 4-year-old girl. She was described as "ok, besides the obvious mental trauma" of the incident, Harmon said.

The alleged abuser was found dead at the scene. His name wasn't released pending the announcement of his death to his family.

The sheriff's office will defer to a grand jury to decide whether charges will be brought against the father. If charges are filed, they won't be on behalf Harmon's behalf.

"You have a right to defend your daughter," he told CNN. "[The girl's father] acted in defense of his third person. Once the investigation is completed we will submit it to the district attorney who then submits it to the grand jury, who will decide if they will indict him."

The father was reportedly "very remorseful" about the death and did not know the alleged abuser would die of his injuries.

Any type of man would do that to protect his child!! That is what needs to happen instead of everything is alright you do not have to fight. You better realize police departments are reactive not proactive. That means you better be prepared to do what ever it takes because you do not know how long it may take the police to get there!

I bet if the father had used a gun or a knife, things would have turned out very differently.

It would certainly give the Brady bunch political ammo, though.

I would have done the same thing. I have an 8 year old daughter and I can only imagine the rage that father was feeling.

I have 10 year old twin girls...and a registered a- hole living on our street!! I don't know how these people can be put back among everyone else. It is almost like the system protects him from us instead of us from him!

I have a son, not a daughter but I would do the same thing this father did. Protect your own.

A defense lawyer won't have any problem making a case for this dad being in a state of disassociation from the consequences of his actions. His precious child was in the process of being harmed by a guy, he reacts and times flies as well as fists and the perp. died. I will guess that the dad could not even tell you how many minutes went by when he was punching this guy. The combination of adrenalin and testosterone driven reaction is a powerful force and one that a prudent person does not stir up and get in the way of. The big concern for me is the post trauma recovery for him and his daughter. I pray to God she did not have to watch this happen and that she is able to box up some of these memories until the time later when she is old enough to deal with them and let them go. Watch out for your kids people.

He shouldn't feel "remoresful" at all. It would be a shame if he spent one single night in jail.

How so ? stop the hand wringing.

There is nothing more universally accepted than a parent protecting their child ...End of story.

Out with the trash. This man is what I call a real father.

Sounds like another Zimmerman case minus all the hype and controversy of race.

No info to go on as to the details of the beating or even what the father saw. What did the suspect do to the girl? what did the father do? There are basically very few details to try and form an educated opinion at this point. Depending on what evidence comes up it could go either way.

Did the father over react to a possibly innocent touching and beat this guy without remorse for a lengthy period of time in a blind fit of rage? or did the father see an obviously sexually penetrating contact and strike the man a couple of times to stop the threat and the injuries happened to be fatal? We will need to see more.

Just going by what I read here, all I see is a man that was trying to protect his daughter and did what he had to in that situation. As far as any pending charges, even if they decided to pursue this course of action (which I don't think they should), the possibility of actually getting a conviction due to the circumstances involved in this would be very slim at best.

Sounds like a true, warranted, "crime of passion"... most fathers would be "insane" with rage and would do the same IMO.

    Appropriate use of force.
Actions of the molester caused his own death.
    No touching allowed....NO touching allowed!!!
