    Blade Show Review - Newbie

OK, I didn't really ever want to write up a review, as I am not a master of the pen... but this time feel a lot is worth noting.

I drove down to Atlanta with my future wife from Chicagoland, a short 13 hours (much worse on the way back!). We stopped at Buffalo Trace Distellery, and I must say, can't get enough of that Eagle Rare! We met a coworker of mine and his wife in Atlanta. KHD, add your thoughts .

As for Blade, it was all that I could have imagined. So many booths and so little time (and money!). I also have a flashlight addiction (thanks Andy), but held that one at bay. As for the Fiddleback's, couldn't beat that one.

It was incredible to meet such a group of people (makers and forum contributers). The combination of passion, skill, love of the brew, comedy, and friendliness was something to never forget. Hopefully this will not be the last time that we all see each other! The outside pit and FF/FK dinner was great.

I want to thank all that made my first Blade experience excellent. Thanks Andy, Dylan, Dan, and Ron (and significant others) for making me feel at home in Georgia. Great to meet you'all and the rest of the Bladeforum members.

As for my haul, I thank the future wife for being so understanding, she supports me to the end and I am not complete without her.

Forged curley cue, Andy's fun with forging! Aesthetic and can also be used for a head scratcher

    Talking A Truly Awesome Experience!!!!

I also wanted to thank Andy, Dylan, Dan, and Ron! All those guys were extremly great to talk to and extremely helpful!!! I can not thank you four guys enough for the tips and a few tricks when making knives!

I got to meet one of the guys on the forum also! It was great getting to talk to Mistwalker! That guy is one of a kind! So much insight on the use of knives! I look forward to reading more of your upcoming reviews!!

It was kind of weird meeting all the guys because I had talked to them on the forums but they had no idea what I looked like. So when you walk up to them...you know what they look like, but they don't know who you are. Once you tell them who you are, they made me feel like I had known them for years and we were old friends.

The blade show was all I hoped it could be. I did not have the long car drive but, the trip still seemed to take an eternity because of the anticipation. It was awesome to see all sorts of wonderfully made knives and every maker was so helpful with telling me how he or in some cases she made them. It was also great to see all the different types of blade steel comparisons as well as handle materials. I have lots of ideas for knives I intend to make.

Erich and I even met one guy who makes some extraordinary folding knives and all he uses is a 2X42 kalamazoo grinder and a drill press. It shows you what kind of results you can get with determination.

A special thanks to Dan and Ron for showing me the shop where all these truly awesome creations are created! I look forward to seeing all the new designs and concepts from Dan and Ron. As well as getting to talk about the upcoming designs...once they are finally finished!!

It is a truly great group of guys and I envy them that they get to work together in such a great shop!

Oh wow...ErichM WHAT A SCORE! Seriously that is a stunning little collection of knives, I'm more than a bit jealous right now I especially love the look of the Bushfingers with curley cues: in addition to head scratching I bet those could throw sparks off a firesteel pretty darn well huh?

I just have to chime in as a bourbon guy and say that Eagle Rare is fantastic sippin' whiskey
3 fingers, 3 ice cubes, and it makes a nice way to punctuate a long day.

I gotta get to Blade one day. It's just a terrible time for me to break away from work...maybe in a year or two
