Recently bought one of these and am considering different carry options. http://www.coldsteel.com/samase.html So, how do you really carry this thing? Do the holes work with a Tek-lok? Looking for options as a CCW companion as a weapon retention device. Also considering strong side vs weak side carry. So far I am leaning toward weak side. Appendix In The Waist Band week side seems most comfortable, but again looking for options. What do you think?

if your right handed and you want to carry for weapon retention, 10-11 o'clock will be a good option since it will still be accessible to your strong hand.

Ditch the Secure-Ex sheath and have some custom Kydex or leather made. The Secure-Ex design locks the blade into the sheath and prevents anything resembling a quick draw. You literally need to pry the sheath open with your thumb to draw the knife. NOT something you want in regards to a SD blade.

That is not accurate at all with the sheath that came with my knife. The knife clicks into place with a nice mild click that allows the knife to be carried as a neck knife if desired but comes out easily. I have no issues with the knife retention features of he sheath.

I do still need to come up with a better carry position though. I went out for dinner with the family with the blade at 10:30 and tried to position it in the crease of my left leg. While sitting it still applied enough pressure to my leg that it became uncomfortable. So much so that I had to stand up to release some pressure from the sheath. Felt like a kubaton pressure point application after a while. My short build isn't conducive to Appendix In the waist band carry. Might have to try horizontal carry at 10 to 11 O'clock.

    Still searching for answers...

You might also experiment with centerline carry.

Infight Access Kydex, available through MDTS Training http://mdtstraining.com/index.html .
I can't find the MDTS shop on these pages, but it is there somewhere.
Anyway, IAK sheaths are the best I have seen or used. Good retention, minimal printing, easy draw.

Your link was to the current line of "Safemaker" knives, which are ground on one side and issued with a locking Secure-Ex sheath. Earlier versions were ground on both sides and issued with a Conceal-Ex sheath which did not lock and was great for speed draws. Perhaps you got an earlier version? Is yours flat and featureless on one side and is the sheath stamped Secure-Ex?

Coming late to this thread, but the fact is that most factory sheaths blow. The only current sheaths I'd use as issued would be the 2nd generation Buck Hartsook/Smidgen and the CRKT Minimalist, and even then I prefer aftermarket sheaths for the Hartsook/Smidgen. You also might want to find aftermarket pull-the-dot belt loops at Blade-Tech or Knife Kits to add to the existing sheath. I've always found Tek-Loks bulky.
