Its a nice knife. They fire hard and have good lockup. I don't think Piranha was at the Blade show, so I am not sure if anyone would have had the chance to handle them. We just got a few more of them in, so over the next couple of days you will see orange, camo, and green show up on our site as well.

Yeah lock up is good on this knife. If you are familiar with other Piranha autos the lock up is very similar. In answer to your other question this is their first new design in several years.

My concern is the pivot screw. Given that there isn't one. Is this an issue?

I can understand that concern. With Piranha knives everything is machined to the exact tolerances that you need. So in theory, if you are using the knife for its intended purpose (i.e. to cut) then there shouldn't ever be an issue. There is no screw to develop blade play. The only case where you would develop play in the blade is if you were using the knife to pry or something like that. This is not the knife for guys who love to tinker with their blades, but if you look at other people who have reviewed Piranha autos... most people are very happy with them.

I wish Piranha would make a bigger version of the Excalibur, like say a 4 inch blade.

If only there was a dealer who could twist their arm :P

    I'm stoked about this one!
Initially, I was also concerned with the non-adjustable pivot... but after owning and using a Piranha P1 (Pocket) for about a year, I'm convinced it's not an issue. The knife did not develop any significant play during its time with me. I gifted it to a friend in FL, who carries and uses it daily, and he's quite content too.

Are they auto only? If so why the whole?

I just received mine in blue on friday - lockup is very good, too soon to tell if the non adjustable pivot will become an issue (probably not for me for the way I intend on using this knife). Love it so far - as blade HQ says it fires pretty good for having a 4" blade. As for the hole not exactly sure why it has one dragon - my best guess is to save a little on weight/dress the knife up, and also to skeltonize the blade where the jimping resides. One slight downside (at least to me) is that the blade steel is not printed on the blade anywhere which is the case with some of the piranha knives - just a personal thing - i like to see what steel the blade is somewhere on the blade on any higher end knife.

Mine came in yesterday. For my first auto, i like it a lot. Its a lot lighter than i expected and fires pretty hard. I will try and post a short review/my thoughts after ive carried it some more and used it. BTW, the Piranha logo on the handle looks sick!
