    Exclamation gentlemen my apologies

if this is the wrong section of bladeforums. I recently purchased some of the "new" extreme shok ammo and was wondering if anybody had a chance 2 use it on some contrived targets. its the new "silver tipped model. They all appear 2 look the same now, whereas there were choices before. Did someone decide the ammo to be too effective..etc.

    thanx

Dude, you just wasted your money. "Extreme Shock" and similar rounds just plain do not work for serious applications. They leave an ugly, but very shallow wound that is more likely to piss your attacker off than to stop them. http://www.theboxotruth.com/docs/bot23_4.htm That link shows the results of informal testing with Extreme Shock's ammo.

Id seen alotta similar tests on other sites w/ more or less same results. I put 2 old Winchester rangers in b4 the EXSHOK stuff. Ive seen that stuff work on a rabid animal, in .45 ,1 shot, no heartmuscle could be found. Remmington golden sabres work good too.

I just dont wanna kill my refrigerator or the neighbors. thanx

Your money would be better spend on more practice than on exotic ammo that has proven to not work. But it's your life and if you want to use ammo that has been documented numrous times as having insufficient performance, that's your choice to make.

A good hollow point that penetrates deeply and retains its weight is the best option. Effectiveness increases greatly by shooting multiples. Exotics are efficient in a smaller range of instances. You want your round to still work if it has to go through thick leather, car doors, windshields, pitbull skull, a bicep, tricep, hand etc. Almost all decent hollow points will do the trick.

Corbon, Winchester Ranger, XTP or pretty much anything bonded will do the trick when you put metal on meat in multiples.

The challenge tends to be software not hardware.

Waste of money and a danger to those who rely upon it for self defense.
Remember, only you can break your knife.
