I been looking for a hard use Survival knife (with a capital S) that I can pound the crap out of, hit rocks, pry or whatever else one might call on a piece of steel for and then... be able to sharpen it back to something workable. After reading about how the Infi faired in the Noss4 destruction tests I realized it was Busse I really should be looking at. Now I have to decide which Busse to get. I'm looking at the current production model TGLB, SARGE7 or better yet... a Nuclear Meltdown Special Forces Natural Outlaw (on the secondary market). The question is: Do I pay little less for a current production model that isn't quite perfect or pay a premium for a more suitable out of production model. ($460 for an unused black bladed NMSFNO)

Can anyone offer an opinion on the quality of the current Busse models? They are both "light" models. Is this a new trend in Busse's, a fad, or is it a practical advantage. BTW, the SARGE7 looks very intriguing in theory but the handle looks like one could slide forward relatively easilly when employing a forward thrust.

Also, I don't get the coloured finishes on the blade. If it's going to wear off, why put it on? It seems to me that once it's worn partly off the blade you are going to have to take the whole thing apart and strip it. Am I wrong about this?

I believe Matt means in the Busse sub-forum right here.

If it helps, I had no trouble at all getting into the Busse forum on their own site...
