    Help!! Knife stuck closed

I just "finished" my first liner lock. The only problem is, the blade won't open. It's wedged closed between the titanium liner and the scales. I can push it open from the other side- there's no backspacer, just standoffs, but I can't open the blade normally, it just wedges itself in between the two sides. I have two phosphor bronze washers, one on each side of the blade. Help? Pics coming up.

And around the point where I start feeling the rubbing:

I'm going on a trip tomorrow, and I'd really love to take this with me... so yeah.

have you tried to disassemble it? I might tell you a lot. It would be the first thing that I would do.

Unfortunately, it's peened together. I think it's just from the friction of the two sides, but I have no idea how to fix this.

The blade is too fat at the bevel. Re-grind the blade with more distal taper and a full flat grind. It should clear the liners then.

    Or,

Disassemble the knife and make wider standoffs and washers. This will move the liners farther away from the blade.

If it is binding at the pivot area, too, then disassembly is the only option. Carefully file the pins flush and pry the knife apart.

If the blade is already hardened.. then regrinding.. would not be a very good idea right? I guess I'm just going to replace the back pin, see if I can make the stand off a bit wider.

Did you put a detent ball in it?

The washer spacer thickness has to be larger than the protrusion of the detent ball so the liner can flex out.

If you put a ball in, I expect you peened it closed with the ball locked into the divot.

Seems to me you should tear apart and redo with screws.

The blade is hard? from here it doesn't look like it was ground at all

You can regrind the blade safely. Just do it with bare hands and do not let it get hot.

Oh it's filed. And it's flat ground to around 1/32" at the edge. I just fixed it, ended up sawing through the standoffs, and into my finger (oops), and then fitting in a wider backspacer. Thanks a lot guys! Now I have something to take to the trip tomorrow (Other than my other 10 knives)
