I think Piranha is going to save the day. They just came out with the Predator, which has a 4 inch blade and there is jimping on the spine.

If they don't think its a possible danger, there is something to be said for taking it back and living with the rattle. I know the noisy rattle has been mentioned by several folks on here and as far as I know all are still using them with no issue.

Please be sure to tell us if Spyderco feels the rattling safety indicates a possible danger.
Spyderco's note says that I can have the knife back, but they recommend "retiring" it to prevent any loss, or injury that may occur from its malfunctioning.

I would live with it, however the safety is so loose, that upon a suddon impact, such as hitting the knife on your palm, the force engages the safety. Funny thing is, I don't even want to use the safety. I'm more worried about going to deploy the knife when I need it the most, and the safety preventing me from doing so because it engaged.

Well, I can't make up my mind about what to choose. The downside to the predator from pirahna is that there is no accessible pivot screw. Also, the blade has less weep. Don't know which one to get, the BM Adamas, ProTech TR-4, Pirahna Predator...I wish the Protech had more grip on the handle...

I saw in the other thread you were going to contact Spyderco to see if they will up their offer....did that work out?

...by the way...check your visitor messages...

    Hi Duro,

Sorry for your dissapointment. Sometimes there is little we can do. The model hasn't been made for years. We have no parts and they are difficult to move about given current laws. We just closed out older inventory. I'm planning an upgraded version, but it's still a ways off. The Autonomy might serve you, but it too is still not yet in production.

I have the 92mm Citadel and the Kershaw Rogue. They seem about the same might make a good auto for you

I just ordered a Piranha Predator, Black PE, tough decision between that and the green one. I'll let you know what i think of it in a few days when it comes in and ive had time to carry it. Never been into autos or spring assisted, but lately i have wanted to pick one up real bad. Pics to come soon!

That sucks about your citadel. I'd personally recommend (in a similar size) one of Protech's TR series, TR-2 maybe? I carry one quite-a-bit and Dave a protech takes good care of his customers. Here's mine:

I personally like the bigger Brend 3 but thats just me.
I did a review on the TR-2 on my site (below)
