My vote is for 2 as well. Looks a bit more comfortable to me and I prefer the more acute tip/ blade shape.

thanks again guys, looks like #2 is going to take it!, i got a few more hours before i get started for the day but i highly doubt after seeing these results i'm going to go with anything but #2, i already did a simple cord wrap to see what it could look like on #1 so i'm almost certain of the decision, i'm happy i asked the question because I've been on the fence and don't think i could make the decision alone because i like both of them, i have this problem every time i make something! thanks again for the input it really is appreciated, feel free to continue posting cause i have a few hours left, ya never know!

here is the potential looser all tied up...

OK I've completed the heat treat and tempering, got it up to non magnetic and dropped it in canola oil, that's all i had, then put it in the toaster over for an hour at 400. I don't know what i'm doing so i'm hoping it got hard, how hard is anyone's guess, did a quick file along the edge and it glided across then i hit the edge and it doesn't dent as easily as it did, so i guess now i have to re sand everything all over again, give it an edge then on to the handle!

For me, balance is an important consideration. I am guessing that #2 would have the superior balance. I would consider #1 only if it somehow mysteriously delivered outstanding balance.

Handle number 2 on a longer bladed number 1 and you have a great knife. Both are awesome
