I have picked up many good recipes from this forum for both food and drink so I thought it would be the best place to ask. I want to mix a batch of "apple pie" for the Fourth and was wondering if anyone here has a recipe they would recommend. There are many available online but I trust you guys and know that you take your drinking serious Thanks for any ideas.

This is a guy named Mac's recipe from a cigar forum I frequent

    Mac's Applie Pie Shine
    Prep time 5 Min
    Cook time 30 Min

    Ingredients:
    1 gallon apple juice
1 gallon apple cider (make sure to get a legit cider. It makes for a better product.)
    3 cups white sugar
1 table spoon of Vanilla Extract
8 cinnamon sticks (again, get a legit brand. Spend the extra cash.)
1.5 (750 milliliter) bottles 190 proof Everclear grain alcohol
6-8 shots of Pinnacle Whipped Cream Vodka

    Directions:
In a large pot, combine apple juice, apple cider, sugar, vanilla extract and eight cinnamon sticks. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat and let cool completely (overnight preferred). When juice mixture is cool, Stir in the grain alcohol and place in jars.

Store in fridge. Before serving, shake the jar (cinnamon residue will float to the bottom), pour in a cup of ice, and drink up!!

That is very close to the recipe I have drank a couple times. The one I drank (didn't make it myself, some friends did) was the same except omitted the vodka, vanilla, and sugar. They also didn't boil the cinnamon sticks, instead they put the final mixture in a jug and tossed the cinnamon sticks in and let it age for several days. Not sure which way would work better but the stuff I had tasted very good.

Hmmm, I might have to try that some time. Thanks for the recipe!

I had some very good Apple Pie Brandy given to me over the holidays a few years back while visiting family in western N.C. . It was incredible. All I know about that particular batch is that they put half of an apple (homegrown variety)in each mason jar. Cinnamon and nutmeg were there but not overpowering at all. To answer your question, go to www.coppermoonshinestills.com , go to "free recipes " and go to the bottom of the page there you will find a recipe for Apple Pie Brandy . Look around at some of this guys handcrafted products while you are there .I might join ya and make a batch myself. -------Joe

Thanks for the input guys. I used the recipe that emopunker2004 suggested and tweaked it a bit after talking with a friend who has a good bit of experience with "homemade" alcohol. I only made a half batch and everyone who tried it liked it(a few liked it a bit too much). Here's what I used if anyone wants to try it:
    - 1/2 gallon apple juice(100% organic with no additives)
    - 1/2 gallon apple cider
    - 1/2 cup brown sugar
    - 1/2 cup granular sugar
    - 1 tsp vanilla
    - powdered nutmeg to taste
    - 3 shots of Pinnacle Whipped
    - 3 cups of moonshine( the legal stuff from the ABC store of course)
    - 4 sticks of cinnamon
I mixed all of the ingredients in a pan except for the alcohol then simmered till almost a boil. After allowing this mixture to cool to room temperature I added the vodka then moonshine tasting as I went to be sure it wasn't too strong. I may cut back a little on the sugar next time and increase the vanilla slightly. The amount of alcohol could be increased depending on what you like. Thanks again to everyone who responded, hope you had a great 4TH !

Shoulda mixed it up a bit early--that way you can quality test the final project before serving it to others!

It was a big hit with my camping companions last weekend, except for the one who liked it a little too much

We have been making it for years. It is very good, but it will sneak up on you if you aren't careful.

The longer you age it, the better it seems to get. I don't always have the patience to wait though

I was planning on making this but I found out that Everclear is illegal in PA. Hopefully I can get down to DE or NJ to get some.
