    Hey Guys.

I currently own 3 Busses and one in the shop waiting for my broke arse to pay it off to be sipped to me. I own 2 newer knives one is a Sarge-7 LE # 769 and one is a MBC with the sheath from the first batch.

I own one older Busse. A SHBM. IF I post up a few pictures is it possible to gather a few details about it do you think? Like approx date of manufacture? or anything else?

Here she is. I love that the coating is only present on the blade itself and the choil area. Everywhere else it looks double cut.

You can click on any pic and let it finish loading. Once it loads you can hover your mouse over it and get a magnifying glass icon..hit it and itll come in at I think the size of a 17 inch monitor.

Thx in advance for any responses

That's a beauty......one of my favorite patterns. A SHBM is definitely on my "To buy" list.

    Thanks for sharing.......enjoy!

    Thanks.

I too like the way it looks and feels.
Wondering if any of the old hogs can help me pin down some stuff about her.

Ive also seen some smooth bolt ones. and also some with one smooth bolt in the middle and slotted on either end. Any idea on why that is?

Very nice Mistress! I also have a weak spot for SHBMs. I'm also a sucker for swedged clip points so for me the 1/300 is perfect. I have no idea why some have only one smooth bolt, mine only have slotted bolts. I'd also be interested in hearing if anyone knows

There is a Steel Heart with 1 smooth and 2 slotted......not saying there isn't a BM, but I haven't seen it. Stories vary with who tells them........

I have a magazine from 1998 when the BM was just being tested and I don't quite think it was "released" for another year or so. And Smooth Bolt Mistresses are fairly uncommon, down right rare if you ask me.

I am pretty sure I saw a SHBM with the 2 slotted sandwiching a smooth like in your picture.
Anyone know why they mixed them like that? Just a visual thing?
So would it go like this oldest to youngest.....Smooth bolts...2 slotted one smooth.....slotted....then the various ones after the slotted?

Hmm makes me wanna take a flathead screwdriver to my handle and give those slotted bolts a lil twist, see what happens heh.

The Screws are Treated with Red Loctite and require Heat for Non Destructive dis-assembly.

Asym Ground, Partly Grooved Handle slabs, High Desert Low-Ride Sheath.

Manufacture say March to November 1999.

The Reason given by the Factory at the time for the occasional Smooth Bolt relates to the over all Length of the Bolt and the Thickness of the Handle slabs.

All I can say is that the ASM SHBM is my grail ! Yours is the nicest I have seen ...

When I saw this go on the exchange I was too late ... congrats on an awesome knife ...

LOL ... I could write for ages on why that knife you have is so special but I leave it to you to discover ... although it is so "pristine" and rare that you may be best advised keeping it like that ...

If you ever want to part with it you only need to send me a PM ...

Not at all. With all the models that Busse has made over the years, there is something for everyone.

Anyway, we need new people, with new tastes, to keep this pyramid scheme going...

There are at least two SHBM on the Exchange (not mine) at prices seldom seen in years. In this post-bubble Busse market, buyers are in a good position these days.
