Will have to take some better pics, but here is my newly acquired Rucki.

Loving this thing so far. Only possible complaint is that the blade edge is a little wavy. If you look down the edge from the handle, the edge goes in/out a bit. Probably will be fixed after some sharpening though. Other than that it is great. Got a sheath on the way n everythang. The woods won't know what hit 'em.

Went with a taco style kydex. Seems like the simplest/smallest one and will get the job done. I think I could just tie a loop and have it hang on my back or however it and should be easy enough to access. Pretty hefty, seems more so than I thought it'd be. Definite plus.

Should have some fun this weekend with it.

Stinks about having to wait this long, but I guess that is how it goes. Hope you get your sheath soon. The white blades, of various Swamp Rats and the like, have a certain look to them. White blades in the summer and black ones in the winter, will always be able to spot your knife.

Eloreno - Great knives btw. The Vallotton seems like a really beefy straight razor. Tempted to get one to see how feasible making scales for it would be. Would be pretty sweet with some micarta.

Thanks riz, I've never made scales but it should be pretty straight forward with the vallotton as no nested liners etc. micarta would look great on it!

Exactly. Seems like a little tracing and cutting/sanding is all that is needed. I think micarts would add some grip too. We need orange canvas micarta ASAP.

Does anyone know of a sheath maker that will make a Rucki sheath without needing you to ship the Rucki to them? I'd like to order both so that I can receive them at roughly the same time. Also, how long is it taking Swamp Rat to ship Ruckis these days?

    Longhorn,

I got a really nice rucki sheath from azwelke. No need to send him the knife. You can contact him here on the forums or buy one right off the bay.

Bowman1911 (and anyone else that has both), any possibility of seeing the Waki and Rucki together out of their sheaths?

I've got a Waki and am wondering if I need a Rucki- I think I do- but then I'm wondering if I will sell the Waki. Can't really afford both and I have a sneaking suspision that I'll like the Rucki better.

How would you compare them? Do you have a favorite?

I'm on it! I actually like the rucki better myself. In hand, but as I've said before, they're my only safequeens.

Found another one in the ol' bucket.

And so she was, Rucki, goddess of all that was long and pointy.

Not sure if I've seen the logo up close til I got the knife, pretty cool though.

Thanks Bowman1911. I definitely need to check out a Rucki. Somewhere I got the idea that they had the same blade length and just a shorter handle, but that's not what it looks like in the pictures.

I forgot the specs, but definitely a shorter blade. I figured the shorter handles was nice since the Waki's seemed awkwardly long to me. And modding didn't seem right. A new Rucki is a pretty good deal considering what Wakis go for and what even Ruckis go for second hand. Still desiring a full size katana though. Maybe a Swamp Rat Katacki? Me likes.

    Hope this helps a little.
It is difficult to get my cameras to focus on the Satin Waki next to the coated Rucki. I tried outside photos but humidity foged my camera lenses. Once I got that issue sorted, it was still difficult to get these to show clearly side by side.

Couple closer shots I got outside, a quality "distance" shot showing the full size of these was impossible to get.

My Sage/Black canvas Rucki came in yesterday. I love this color combination, same with the tanker... I only have the 1 taco sheath at the moment, maybe I should get a pancake too.

Here it is with the rest of the Sage/Black canvas family.

Cool pics 2Dead. How do you like the sheath? I have the same one and the retention may actually be too strong. Maybe have to heat it a bit and loosen the grip. Still good in every other regard though.
