    Hey everyone,

I am now in the planning stage to make handle scales for the ScrapYard Scrapivore. If you are interested in this please post here: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh...ard-Scrapivore

I just bought a Swamp Warden. I am going to be making a set of handle scales for it. The scales will have a lip so they catch the hollow of the knife handle. I am going to be making them on a CNC mill and my boss has given me the ok to make a couple hundred if there is interest amoung you guys to purchase them. I plan on making them out of paper micarta/canvas micarta and offering them in 3 colors. One of the colors will be black and the other 2 have yet to be determined. I am making this thread just to see if there is any interest and if there is, what colors you guys want to see. I will update this thread with pictures after I complete the prototype. Let me know if your interested and what colors you would like to see. Cost will be less than 50 dollars.

If there is additional interest in Kydex sheaths to go with the handle scales I may also offer that. Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks,

    Ben

I'd probably be interested in a set or two for mine, depending on your final price. I have one I use all the time. Besides black, what other paper micarta colors are options? How thick are you thinking about going? I'd personally prefer something pretty slim to keep the basic overall profile thin, so no more than about twice the blade thickness. Otherwise it just becomes a Rodent Solution. What kind of grip pattern?

Finally, I wouldn't be surprised if this gets moved. Might want to check in with the sub-forum mods and see if they're OK with you posting this in the Swamp Rat forum.

I was planning on keeping thickness of the scales at .150 inch, which is the thickness of the wardens tang. I was going to do a pattern similar to that of the ratmandu. I didn't mean that they all have to be paper micarta, I just wanted to use 3 materials, one being black paper. I am open to listen to what you guys want to see. If you have suggestions or prefferences id be happy to hear them. I'm not sure where I should post this. I'm not selling any yet, I'm just seeing if there is interest and looking for ideas of what people would like to see.

So would each scale be 0.150" for a total thickness of ~3x the tang (0.450")? Or .150" extra for a total of 0.3"?

I for one would LOVE to see GREEN LINEN MICARTA!!!

I like linen micarta myself. I think black or tan would look best.

Each scale would be .150 for a total thickness of .450 . Still plenty thin but easy on the hand. Keep suggestions coming.

I might get up to 4 if I like the materials.

    Moonglow would be awesome.

G10 would be cool too in orange, green, yellow, bright blue or pink

Id much rather have linen or canvas micarta than paper.

Moonglow doesn't sound like it belongs on a knife but I'm open to it lol.

So maybe I can do two shades of canvas or linen micarta and one shade of g10. I guess if there's a lot of interest I could do more materials/colors I'm kind of trying to keep things simple though.

Green linen or canvas would probably be a popular choice given the Busse heritage and the fact it has not been offered for so long. It would look really good on several colors of the Wardens too (Black, Sage, Moss, possibly even Muddy).

Black paper is a good all-around choice as well (nothing wrong with basic black).

I'd consider 2 or 3 sets. Black, Tan, and Green Micarta are good for me. So are Orange and Yellow G-10.

I'd probably go for kydex sheaths too.

I would buy two pair depending on final price. I much prefer micarta over G10. Basic black canvas, tan canvas and black paper would be good colors I would think.

Ok so far it sounds like 2 definite material choices should be black paper and green canvas micartas. The third is up for grabs on whatever gets the most interest. If there is enough interest in a 4th I will consider that aswell. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Me, too! One, possibly two sets. Black Canvas micarta (but if it didn't make the cut, I'd do Black G10 or Black Paper, too). I'd be interested in a sheath, too.

You rock! Been looking for these for a while!
