    Is this dagger a Luftwaffe?

Do you know what the handle material is?

AZ GRU, please edit your title on the first post to correct "khorn" to "Eickhorn". It will help this thread be searchable.

The marking is correct, according to Anthony carter's Sword and Knife Makers of Germany 1850-2000.

I'd like to see a better shot of the Eagle.

I'd have to have my hands on it to be sure, but this "looks" to me to be a very good copy.

I say this as the grind marks on the blade look too rough for an Eickhorn. Additionally the fit of the grip at the ferrule, the randomness of the "pebbling" on the reverse of the guard, poor eagle's head detail and the weakness/inconsistency of the maker's mark lend creedence to my thinking. If its a copy; it's the best one I've seen to date.

    "Were these coldstamped? "

Yes, Eickhorn did coldstruck as well as acid etched markings off and on all through their years of operation on various dags and swords....and I've only seen cold stamped Eickhorn Kriegsmarine dags; never an etched one but I suppose there are some out there.

Most Luft and Heer dags are acid etched that I've seen or owned.

Look at the blow up of the areas on this dag for a comparison.... you will see what I'm talking about...this one is acid etched.
