Some sheath work, new project

Been working on a new project now the handle on the LRK plus is finished and left a void

I asked JK for a few "no sheath" orders recently to keep me busy and practicing - not having one means I have to do it and it motivates me, see?

Anyway I ended up trying a few different things with the MTK in walnut, it's not finished but you know it ain't going to transform into anything pretty anyway, I get that worn and beaten look without even having to try, - thought I'd post it anyhow considering the recent "start some threads" feel in the air

Wanted this one to look "rugged" but it actually looks more even then my usual fair, I guess my hands and brain work in opposite directions to each other (you want rough? okay, here's a nice straight line for ya ) It'll ride high on the belt and I left a lot of handle sticking out making retention very important as well as fit, think I got it, but you never know, also included a steel ring in case I want to convert it to a dangler without any effort or something else...I don't know, just kinda threw everything at it to see what stuck. I also liked this stitching, never done it this way before (through the liner and back out) but it seems to work.

Anyway, here it is, whatcha think?

Discovering I'd made it so it fits the JK TK -number 2 is pictured, because it has a walnut handle as well so I thought that was cool - as well (subconsciously ):

It looks like you are really enjoying doing leather work! Where are you buying your leather from?

That is a true craft - I have never tried making anything in leather, but I can tell from folks like rayban and Noah that it is an art.

I just don't have the time anymore - maybe someday in the future, but for now I will have to live vicariously through your exploits in the leatherwork field -

Cool. Looks very rustic but functional. I only recently learned leather crafting and started making some sheaths... note the JK Michigan Trail on the bottom

Jk I got my first bits of leather from a leather shop in town, guy who works there gave me some after I bugged him with a few questions, mostly get those scrap bags since the but I should invest in some serious leather soon I think. I kinda like seeing what i get and trying to figure out how to cut around the missing bits though. Might have to try some of Kyturkeys suggestions from his last sheath thread as well.

I haven't tried leatherwork since the 80s so I'll stick to Kydex.

thanks mykel, honestly just got bored waiting for it to dry out and applied some simple glue before leather treatment in what I hoped would be a winning pattern, never doe it before but I figured it would do something like this. I like to act before I think, you make a lot of mistakes but...well you make a lot of mistakes that way, but sometimes you get lucky Guess I'm going to ave to read or watch something to get better eventually though

thought about trying kydex before now but that seems like a whole other world of skills far as i can see,

Good idea. Have done before, some pouches, bags, bag straps, - even put a built in knife sheath on a bag strap once - I try to stay traditional in method for most of them, this one was until I started treating and sticking (don't have any bees wax atm)
