Working on impulse and intuition again......

I have been wanting an Idaho stamp 110 for years, but everybody seems to want a fortune for them.

I think that with a Spa Treatment......this one will serve nicely (at least I hope so--the pics aren't the best).

Anybody want a weird sheath?

Is there anything special about ones with an Idaho stamp??? I'm afraid to ask!
My one Buck 110 "had" the Idaho stamp, but it had a broken tip.....It's the one that I sent to buck for a reblade, now it's a 2012. Hope I didn't mess up.

Well, apparently some people have started to collect both the Idaho stamp of 2005 and the Anvil stamp of 2002.

I guess it's because they're unique and carry some special historical meaning.

Thus, at least on e-Bay......they often go higher than it seems they should.

If your blade had a broken tip it was ruined anyway. You had no choice but to replace it (and thus lose your Idaho stamp). If it means a lot to you you'll just have to join the search for another one.

A quest (or two or three) for a special knife can be fun.

I agree. I collect a specific fishing reel and I've never bought anything off of ebay. I like to find them myself at out of the way flea markets, part of the fun for me is just happening upon them. The reel I collect is the old French made Garcia Mitchell 300. They have a collectable following, but aren't really rare or too pricey so you can still find them pretty cheap at a flea market, but you don't necessarily find them too often, just here and there. I guess I've expanded to looking for Bucks now, and they seem to be pretty rare at flea markets or else, they sell pretty quick so you don't see as many, Case's are everywhere. Right now, I'm mostly keeping my eye out for any interesting 110's or 112's or bucklites. Hoping to come across a 2 & 3 dot 110! A couple of weeks ago, I went to one flea market on an old town square and found a reel, and then went to the flea market next door and found a 2 dot 112! That's the most luck I've had so far.

Ah, the old 300.

We used to call them "The Coffee Grinder" because they were rough and noisy. I guess they went to more ball bearings just after that.

I still have one on a rod and use it now and then. Solid performer.

Yes, Bucks are hard to find at the sales. I find I must haunt e-Bay to find good stuff. If you put in the time, it's there.

I have posted four good finds in the last week, but sometimes I go weeks without finding a thing.

Hunting is fun, though.

Yes, but collecting is a way of dealing with those realities.....

Chasing down what was thought to be unobtainable not only keeps us busy, it fosters the illusion that we have contended and conquered.

Besides, it gives us shiny things to look at.

All BUCK knives made in the USA in 2005 had the Idaho because it was the year they started production in Post Falls Idaho.
