Most of you know the folding GI can opener, one that I always have on my key chain. Unfortunately, the sharp point can wear a hole in trouser pockets and can also cause "security" concerns at courthouses and airports. I recently made made sheaths for these tools with a length o tubing over the ends of several GI can openers. The plastic keep it closed. When the can opener is needed, the l plastic sleeve can be easily off. I now have a sheathed can opener on key chain, and it see protects pocket.

I have yet to pass through security at the the local court house with my deadly deadly pointed can opener, but I hope that the covered "weapon" will not have to be surrendered and picked up later

Perhaps some others can try ny smmple idea and share your experiences with it.

  2. are you sure you have a american made p-38? i have mines on my keychain and it hasnt cause problems. it doesnt swing open. it kind of snaps in when its close letting you know its locked.

I used to wrap a rubber band mine to keep it from unfolding and stabbing me in the gluteus maximus.

I was at my brother in law's for Thanksgiving dinner last year. He didn't have a can opener! Good thing I had my P38. Guess what he got from me for Christmas.....
