Oops. Double post.
LOL! 'Scooped the Coop', too. I had NO idea of this acquisition. Buddy simply held his cards closely and waited for the seas to calm, before presenting us with this luxury yacht.
As with anything KC, the amount of intention and technique involved way surpasses most of our pedestrian gazes. I'd like to know more about it. Link on the build?
Congrats, Buddy. As fine a purchase as is the photo quality. My highest of praise to all.

Buddy,
That dagger is an absolute masterpiece, a tribute to Kevin's insane attention to detail !!
Great job with the photo as well.....although it only makes me want to hold that baby !

All I can say is "I DO"
I love that dagger!
What a work of art! I agree with commments on the handle and would love to see a full frame shot of just the handle. Fantastic piece -- congratulations to all.

Fantastic, Buddy!!! Kevin knocked it out of the park with this one.
Makes it even more special when timing, circumstance, serendipity,...whatever we choose to call it...is happening as a catalyst to the acquisition. One of those "meant to be" things. I also had that happen with a "Best Fixed Blade" score at Blade a few years back and just couldn't believe how lucky I was and how it came together. There were others green with envy then, just as I am now with your new hot one.
Congratulations! I'm very, very happy this piece ended up with you.
When it's time to circle the wagons make sure all the rifles are pointing out.
Outstanding execution of a very complex piece.
Great image!
I have a couple of plain Janes of Kevin's but to own a historical piece is nice. Is that part of the handle design or does it have a sideways tang?
Staggering. A well deserved best, I should say!
Buddy, I know this is going to sound absurd, but is there any way I could see a larger version of this image? I'd really love a chance to examine the detail of that handle...

Thanks guys. Here is a large image of just the pommel/handle/guard/ricasso area:
http://www.fototime.com/7024B424D9BC93D/orig.jpg
And here are some details:
16th Century Dagger
OAL - 20.5"
Blade - 14"
Blade steel - 01/L6
Handle - Traditional iron wire
Fittings - Fire blued steel, silver, copper
Sheath - red felt over wood and leather
Kevin stuck to materials that were in use at the time. The iron wire wrap on the handle will rust without proper care. There is a wax like material pressed into the wire. The mirror image handle halves, if I understood correctly, are actually halves of two like handles mated to produce the chevron pattern. The ornamental silver strip covers where the handle halves come together. Kevin applied the engraving, silver florals and dots.
And no, you don't put your thumb through the ring.![]()
Thanks, Buddy - that's EXACTLY how I wanted to see it! Any two inches of that dagger could be the focus point of a photo. Such detail!
Thanks again for sharing.

So... What DO you put in the ring, if not your thumb. (Remember: Only stupid answers, not questions....)
I want to see more of that sheath/scabbard, too. Can't get enough.

Good catch.
Can you show us a better pic of the handle?
Thanks,
