I have some Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island bay rum and it is pretty good. It does burn but only when my technique is a bit off.

It dries down on me to smell like Christmas cookies, according to my wife.

Masters is well thought of. I think you can get that at Sally beauty supply.

I prefer a menthol aftershave like Aqua Velva Ice blue. I also like AV Ice Sport for a less menthol, more "Cool Water" type of scent. I use a variety of AS and keep several on tap.

I like some variety in my daily shaves.

I got some Masters from Sally Beauty Supply. I love the smell, but it doesn't last very long.

The scent of aftershave shouldn't last long, that is the job of a cologne. The reasoning behind the aftershave scent not lasting long is so it doesn't overpower the cologne if you choose to use one. The purpose of aftershave is to disinfect and sooth your skin after shaving. The reasoning for adding scent to aftershave is to cover the not so pleasant smell of the disinfectant and other chemicals used in it.

I'm a big fan of Ogallala products, especially their Bay Rum with Limes and Peppercorns, and Bay Rum with Sandalwood... L&P is definitely more mild if you don't want a lingering scent; personally I really like the sandalwood because it lingers, especially if its hot... Email their customer service if you are considering one of these, they'll send you out a couple samples to let you find out which you'll be most happy with.

Gables is good. You can buy a gallon on barber supply sites. I use their lime after shave at work
