Yes, I have a small amount of vertical blade play on my Caly 3.5 as well as all of my back locks.
Just curious if anyone has any vertical blade play on their Caly 3.5? Even just the slightest bit?

Slight vertical blade play in my 3.5 as well.
I have an older Delica 3 that's seen most of the hard work I've ever done that should never be done with a knife (snapped tip and gouges etc as evidence). The lock never failed and the the up-down play has not grown perceptibly worse.
The Caly 3.5 might be my favorite lockback folder ever....
I only have one in Super Blue, and been thinking of getting one of the new ZDP-189.
Thanks guys. I just don't think back locks are for me. I like my Manix 2's and PM2s. I have a Caly 3.5 CF/ZDP for sale or trade here if anyone is interested.

Finally, picked up a super blue caly a few days ago. Although,
I did find the handle a bit too narrow at first, after repeated
use, it has been growing on me steadily. I still prefer my native 5
in hand- it just fits my hand so well.
Going back to caly, I believe it's one of the few knives I've
had that was tissue paper shredding sharp out the box. It's been
a joy to slice with. I'll have to pick up a vg-10 version for outdoor
use in wetter climates.
Action was stiff out the box, but after some lube- smooth. Now
just gotta build muscle memory in the fingers to move out of the blade's
way when it closes- already had a few spyder bites. Been too
use to the choil stopping on my finger before closing, like in the native
and military.
Now if I can just have the patience to let the patina occur, naturally.
I played with the CF 3.5. Love it! Sold it off, needed $$$ but will be buying one back.
I have a Caly 3 CF. I find the choil more comfortable than the 3.5, but the size of the 3.5 is amazing in hand.
after adding more fruit to my diet...

I recently received the Caly 3,5 CF ZDP-189 and it replaced my FFG Delica as favored EDC,
Anthony,
You refer to the Caly 3.5 as a possible "larger ECD".
When it's in your pocket, it feels like a "smaller ECD". When it's in your hand it is a "larger ECD".
Considering the 3.5" blade, the folded knife is deceptively small.
The CF model can be used in any company, it definitely looks like a "gentleman's knife". But it cuts like a 3.5" work knife.
