CRK Sebenza vs Strider SnG for EDC?

I'd go with the 0550 of those two.
But ultimately, it has to be what appeals to you the most.

I question the man behind the Strider, but the knife has been calling me lately. I own two Small Sebenza 21's...one is the Insingo w/micarta. The other I just sold to a good fellow on here. I have been waiting and watching for a while. I love my CRK. So smooth...beautiful. Great gentleman's EDC. I stayed away from Strider because of the supposed bad f&f and qc. Recently though some reviewers who swore Strider off have come back to the knives. Everyone that I have watched or write a review on the new Strider's seems to love the new lock-up and quality. Better fit and finish. Some say finally, almost Sebenza "like." Obvioulsy not thought, yet. They aren't trying to be a Sebenza. Built for hard use, some say you can do some bushcrafting and other tough things with them. Built more for the military or that type of field use vs. everyday type situations. Even though I believe a CRK can take a licking. Just not on the level a Strider can. So....I'm saying. Get a good user small or large Sebbie. And save for a new Strider. I will let you know if I pull the trigger. I really want an SNG CC in green or black with the stonewashed drop point blade. If a certain website would just get them in.... Then I will be able to tell you my thoughts.

If I wasn't so caught up in the tacticool pucker factor, I would by a Spyderco Sage 2 and be done with it. Sweet knife for the money.

Sebenza is the better cutter/ slicer and is way more refined in the fit n finish department. Pretty much the perfect working knife.
Strider will take a beating and come back for more. Great heat treat, one of the best warranties for a folding knife and just has a aura of bad ass' ness to it.

I have, but that's a pretty large for EDC.

I would go with the sebenza. Both are fine knives. The sebenza just feels like functional perfection.

I'm going to say whatever styling you like the most. They are both great knives. Only you know which will fit in better with your lifestyle.

Depends on what you use the knife for. If you work in an office where most of your cutting involves envelopes and opening boxes, the sebenza would be the one to get. If you work in jobs where you're hard on the knife (construction/warehouse/LE/military) you definitely want to go with the Strider.

The sebenza is a gentlemen's knife, it is not made for prying on stuff and hard use. The strider on the other hand can take a good beating and still go on and on. It all depends on what you want the knife for.

How does the ZT compare to them? Thought about picking up a 550 also.

I have an CRK Umnumzaan and a ZT 0550. Both are excellent knives, but the Umnum is twice the knife that the 0550 is, and it's also twice the price.
My 0550 is smooth, but heavy, thick and large.
My Umnumzaan is smooth, excellent blade design, slim in contrast to the 0550, and I really enjoy it. It's my EDC. I will buy a large Sebenza one of these days, as it also has a great rep.
I never carry the 0550 and will likely sell it one of these days.

Does the DPX Hest 2.0 even compare to the 550?

I have both. Both are ANIB. The Hest still has a sticky lock, and is a smaller knife. Also, the blade is thicker and likely will not slice as well as the 0550. If I had to choose, the Hest would be sold. The 0550 is heavy-duty and very smooth; an impressive knife, but larger than I want to EDC.

For me it would be the large Sebenza everytime, but that is because I do not like the construction method of a ti scale and a G-10 scale, and that is simply personal preference.

But further the Sebenza would be one of the classic w/wood inlay, or maybe the micarta inlay. Though the wood doesn't stick out that far from the handle, it still gives the knife a thicker, warmer feel, and the wood inserts are treated with epoxy resins that make them very difficult to harm. Not only is it a nice gentlemans knife, it's also a hard use knife.

Neither. Both are over-hyped and if you buy a knife for $400+ on the say so of others without handling it, you're crazy. If you think price equals quality, think again. There are many knives in the $150-$400 range that would better fit your bill as a gentleman's user. Hell, some are cheaper than that. Or, you could get a real custom and not just an overpriced production knife, if you are inclined to spend a bit more money. Just saying...if you're ok beating up such an expensive knife, you should be looking at something unique, not at the mid-tech "rip-off" point between production and custom.

Lg Micarta Sebenza with Insingo blade. Such perfection.
Do some research on Strider and watch the red flags fly.
They can fix their lock-up issues, but not their reputation.

You're right, lol. My personal preference if I spend that kinda money is to get something completely custom. I do like the CRK knives more of the two. Simplicity is best, especially in a user. It'd be nice if he used some ridiculously awesome super steel. Then I'd have to throw some money down.

I always send off my sebenza blades to Bos to get them hardened. That is probably the only thing I don't like about CRK's, they dull faster than my delica. However they are quite good with a harder s30/s35 blade.
