I've been using my BK-11 in lieu of a straight razor since I bought it back in january.

My old BK-5 has outperformed electric turkey knives and meat slicing machines.

My Patrol Machete has cleanly cut through vines as thick as a D Cell Mag-Lite. Like a freakin' lightsaber.

My BK2 came pretty dull, with a steep edge, but I brought the bevel back quite a bit and made it near razor sharp.

  3. I just got a BK7 that was horrible! It has a jagged, toothy edge. All other Beckers I had though (3 BK2s) came nice!

iirc, your Beckers are going to come with about a 220 grit edge

it's sharp, it's tough, and it's the user's decision to keep that, or make it more fine...

220 is more than good enough for real world use

    imho

    KaBar's too

A find a lot of knives that I receive are sharp out of the box. I always sharpen my new knives with an old Smith's black crock stick that has been out of production for awhile.

I just received my BK14 yesterday and it was probably the dullest factory edge of any of my knives out of the box...the edge of the box sleeve was sharper than the knife in the box.

That said, it's plenty sharp now & I like it a bunch

My 11 was fairly sharp when I received it. I didn't immediately reprofile it, but it wasn't too long after it started seeing some regular pocket time. I use it for practicing hand sharpening.... It's sharp now.

The 9 was a giant razor and the edge is holding well. It will still pop a few hairs. I'm pretty happy with where it's at right now for how I use it, but it will probably get a little attention before too long.

i would like to see pictures of these dulls knives, but y'all you know, sharpen them.

don't expect a Becker to have an edge like a Fallkniven from the box, but DO expect a Becker to take an edge like that, if you want to put that effort into it.
