howzabout a full on profile shot Ryan?
Finished this one up for one of my repeat customers. He asked for my wood drake design (Nessmuk Inspired) but to "Make it Special" and left me free reign on the details. I had a piece of Spalted Sycamore from Mark "Burl Source" that had the Old Growth / New Growth running across it like a Hamon. I knew there would be a blade that would be the perfect match and I think I found it
Wood Drake Specs:
Steel: Aldo's 1/8" 1095 (Hamon)
OAL: 9"
Blade: 4.5'
Handle: Stabilized Spalted Sycamore (From Burl Source) Had it as Maple before... Thanks Mark
Misc: Tapered Tang, Mosaic pin
Comments Encouraged.... thanks for looking
Ryan

這材料應用的真有巧思.
真棒!
I particularly love the way the handle curves into the blade there. Reminiscent of a yin yang. Very cool!

Thanks to everyone that posted! I really appreciate the feedback.
Mark from Burl Source pointed out that I had it listed as Spalted Maple, when intact it is Spalted Sycamore. Thanks Mark.

Love the match up, a true work of art!!!
Ryan, What's a 'Wood Drake' knife? I've googled and can't identify this term.
This looks handy and well-made by every account. Props.

Thank you Issues.
Coop Thank you, It actually is a "Wood Duck"
the word Drake means male. the Nessmuk hump reminded me of the head portion. Thanks for asking.

.........hats-off.
Spalt line to hamon line - mighty, mighty clever and beautifully done
Man, Ryan, you've just been knocking them out of the park - love how the hamon transitions into the handle material. Great execution!
There is no going back. If you find that you're comfortable where you were, it's because you never really left.
