    BK16 replacement sheath

    Hi all,
I just bought a new BK16, and I'm really happy with the knife. I'm less happy with the coating, but I can deal with it. I like the sheath, but the only time I'd really use it is in the woods. The sheath is bigger than I'd be comfortable wearing anywhere else. I know there are tons of replacement sheath options, but I thought I'd share one for those of us on a budget. My BK16 is parked happily in a Buck Ergohunter leather sheath. You can see the sheath at - http://www.buckknives.com/index.cfm?...productID=3876 . The picture really doesn't do the sheath justice. You can buy the sheath elsewhere for less than $20. It's really a nice sheath, and the BK16 fits great. I modified the sheath a bit by moving the male portion of the snap on the handle strap to tighten up the fit, but that's your choice. I have a firesteel stuffed into the outside pocket where the skinner is pictured. My steel is connected to the sparker with a cord loop, and I put the strap through that loop just in case the steel falls out of the sheath. I'd post a pic, but I'm one of those non-paying members.

You can still post a pic. Just host it on a 3ed party site like imgur.com and link it into the thread! I'd love to see a pic of that personally! Sounds awesome.

Sorry. I changed the link. Let me know if it still doesn't work. Maybe I should cough up the dough to be a paid member...

    That looks great!

You mind giving us a picture of what you are talking about with this part? I'm not quite sure what strap/piece/etc you are talking about.

The retention strap around the handle. The Ergohunter must have a fatter handle. I removed the bottom of the snap and put a new one in so it would be a tighter fit when snapped closed. The BK16 fits snug, so I'm not sure you'd need to do it, but I also use this sheath for an Entrek Javalina, and the handle on that is smaller than the BK.

Nice find! That's a steal for a leather sheath, and I like the way you've done the fire steel.

Thanks. How'd you post the pic, so I don't look like a complete tool next time I try?

You need to put the image for the URL itself into image tags.

A beginning image tag looks like this: [img]

An ending tag looks like this: [/img]

Then when you stick this url: http://i.imgur.com/TqYls.jpg

In between those with no spaces, you get this:

Those are nice sheaths (factory wise) my brother has a very similar one on his new Buck Ergo.

Nice going on that Buck Sheath improvisation for the Becker. Enjoy!

That's a great idea! Buck will happily sell you the sheath for $25 from their factory store. I couldn't find any listings for it on The Auction Site That Shall Not Be Named but KnifeCenter.com is selling it for $16.95. A pretty good deal.

I think OP can not post attachments simply because he's not a paid member like I do.

Unpaid members cannot post attachments, but posting pics via the method I did is not posting an attachment, and is doable by any member, paid or unpaid.
