Anyone travel to Sudan (North or South?)

I'm looking for recommendations on learning about the country, groups, players, etc.

Any difficulty crossing from N to S?

And tips/advice about entering the country.

So far, I've read Pelton's WMDP (a bit old now), Wiki, CIA Factbook, that kind of stuff.
