How do you add trailer hooks to spinner and buzz baits

Im assembling a night fishing tackle box for bass. I want to prerig trailer hooks to the spinner and buzzbaits.Do you guys like to let the hook swing freely and add the rubber stopper after the hook or do you like to put the rubber stopper over the eye and have the hook a little more stationary?

I'm not a fan of trailer hooks.

Do you use a rubber/plastic grub, frog or tube on your buzz baits?

For me that adds enough buoyancy to fish the bait nice and slow, resulting in more hookups.

I like my trailers statuary. This is how I do it: Buy some of the bands they use on jig skirts and slip it over the eye of the trailer hook. Then go threw the skirt band and the eye of the trailer hook withe the point of the buzz bait hook. If you dont buy a trailer hook and try to do it with a regular hook you'll probable have to crush the barb on the buzz bait hook because normal hook eyes are too small. If you cant get jig skirts bands then use surgical tubbing. If your fishing in heavy cover put the trailer hook in the same direction as the buzz bait hook. If your fishing in open water flip the trailer hook upside down, its suppose to give you a better hook up ratio. But the only time I run a trailer hook is if fish are short striking

Ive been night fishing twice this week. Most of the fish have been caught on the trailer hook. I elected to let the hooks swing freely putting the stopper on after the hook.

If I rig a trailer, it's usually the stationary method, but I rarely use 'em.

I also hardly ever use them, mainly because I throw them in heavy stuff. If I do, I stick the trailer hook through my trailer, usually a 4 or 5" grub. I also use a treble for small mouths if I'm fishing in clear water.

1.take a whole puncher and pop a couple dozen wholes in a coffee can plastic lid
2. place one of the cut outs on the main hook of the spinner bait
3. place trailer hook on spnnerbait
4.then another plastic cut out from the coffee can lid to secure it in place
5. fini save the rest of cut outs for future use
