First knife made for somebody else!

Well, since I tinker a lot with my knives at work one of my co-workers asked me if I could make a knife for her. Nothing big, leather handle and an etch of a symbol of a book that she liked a lot ( I read it and liked it too, it's named Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon). I had a piece of 1084 that was going to be my first stick tang project and had been somewhat shaped and showed it to her. She liked the size and a drawing with a new shape I did and got busy with it.

Finished it up last weekend and presented it to her this Tuesday. She liked it a lot and so did my co-workers. The final result was a ffg with slight top swedge 1084 stick tang with leather handle, around 3" of blade (didn't measure it) and overall under 7".

I told her to pay me whatever she felt the knife was worth it, and today I got ... a 20 dollar bill!

I made up my mind that half of whatever I make out of the knives will go into a bike fund piggy.

    Hope u guys like it!

    I'll take two for $40!

Sorry, couldn't help it. You are off to a good start.
Thanks for the chuckle at $20 too. Comes to $1 an hour?

lol! thanks guys. I realize I asked for it as I told her to give me what she thought it would cost...ask a non-knifenut and see what happens...

from the 20$ I put 3$ towards the office powerball pool, and saved 10$ on a cigar box. I think I will stick to keeping half of profits stashed away for whatever

In the begining of my knifemaking adventure,I sold a number of knives for 20 and 30 dollars. At least it was something, and it bought more materials and fueled the desire to make moreNice looking knife and cool story!

    I like the knife.
Meant as constructive critism: I would have liked it better if you threathed the butt plate in stead of a nut.

thanks guys. It's an honor to have stablished makers chiming in! I'm not even mad, the way I see it I got PAID for a lesson, when it usually works the other way around.

Hengelo, I also thought about threading the plate but it was too thin, like around 3/32 (don't have a caliper) so I felt a cap would do a better job. I think my next stacked handle will have a thicker plate or I might try peening the end of the tang. For this one I just welded a screw at the end.
