    Hello all

I just want sharing some pictures of my favorite hiking since I was a kid. The place is located in the Vosges mountains in France close to home.

This is the original " Path of stones " built by the Romans :

Recently, forest works destroyed the original path by bulldozers. I am very disappointed. Hike on the new "road" :

    Neuweiher Lakes :

    Tools of the day :

    Thanks for looking

    Greetings from France !

Yes, in Alsace we have lot of historical places, mainly WWI and WWII and some remains of the medieval and Romans.

In United States you have great wilderness, it is also a beautiful wealth !

I can just see the Roman builders/workers sit by the lake at the end of the day wash up. Let the cool water take the pain from sore muscles. Its a shame they build a new road which more then likely wont last a fraction as long as the Roman did.

Yes you are right sasha, this destruction is a mess. All other hikers I've met so far are very disappointed and do not understand.
The financial interests seem more important than historical heritage, it's sad.

    Beautiful woods!

It is shocking that a rare Roman survival should be bulldozed but it happens all the time, over here too.

Thank you for the pictures. My family's genealogy traces back to the Alsace area. It's nice to see what it looks like.
