Differences, preferences, likes and dislikes please. Quite familiar with UT's, so what makes the troodon (not combat) more $?

Mechanically, are they same or different. Thanks!

Internals are the same basic design found in all Microtech D/A OTFs.

The machining on the Troodon handle is probably a little more expensive, but probably not enough to justify the price difference. Everthing else about the Troodon is smaller, so there's less material cost. I would guess the reason for the cost difference is either volume (lower volume sales make any item more expensive) or marketing (charging more for style, etc.).

I much prefer the Troodon due to the size and weight, plus the SE blade on the Troodon is much nicer than the SE blade on the Ultratech. The only thing I really like better about the Ultratech (besides its price) is the thicker blade.

When you say the blade is nicer, you mean the style of it?

    Thanks for that information.

I like the UT much better. My Troodon was a PITA to retract, no where near as smooth as a UT. The slim design is nice but Brian's statement about blade thickness is spot-on.

Thankis guys. I'll probably opt for another UT then. I feel more comfy with the thicker blade (since even the UT blade thickness isn't very thick!). The Ut size is not an issue for me ever. At al.

If you're looking to change things up a bit, the Daytona is nice.

Definitly an option. Never fondled a Daytona though and no dealers local. Plus for a user, kinda more at ease with spending 125$ less for a UT, if ya get my drift lol

Yes, I mean the shape. I don't particularly care for the holes in the blade, but I find the shape much more useful.

It's funny I had pretty much the exact opposite experience. My UT was a bear to retract and my Troodon was much easier. I'm sure there are variences within each batch but I prefered the Troodon due to size and ease of firing. YMMV.

Nothing yet. Still thinking and trying to decide what blade finish, all black handle hardware etc. it'll be awhile before I buy one anyway, just trying to make up my mind so I don't have to when the time rolls around lol. Also trying to decide weathe to sell my two tone tanto UT or not.

Also trying to decide weather to get another UT first or get a protech Brend cocbolo scales. I really like that knife alot. The medium sized one will be in my collection in the future.
