Ugly? Maybe. uncomfortable? No way! I got my first pair of Fila Skele-Toes, and they're puuurrrty sweet! I was doubtful, but they are really comfortable. They come in quite a few different configurations, but once you find one that fits you good, you'll love 'em.

What kind of terrain/activities have you used them for so far?

    They look very interesting.

Is there a horrible odor when you're done using them? or do they have socks for them. Does it have enough to circulate air?

They definitely have the five-finger look. Interesting that they went with only four toe pockets, I'm assuming that the last toe toes are together, which covers one of the main complaints I've heard from five-finger people (bashing the little toe)

As for smell, I've found that rinsing them out every few uses helps, but like any shoes, they do start to pick of a funk. not nearly as bad as canvas "Toms" shoes, those get hella-nasty!

They make special socks, and the tops are mostly a really breathable mesh.
