    Cancer Sucks!

Hello everyone! I have been lurking bunches and posting very little these past months. I have been going just about bananas this year but things seem to be getting better. My wife was diagnosed with thyroid cancer on Feb 16th of this year. We had never heard of it and it was a life changing moment when the doctor told us. I never felt Sadness, Fear, Uncertainty, and Anger all in the same moment. My wife looked at me with these eyes, kinda wanting me to protect her, but all I could do was fight back the tears. Boy was that tough.. At that instant, I knew I wasnt superman and realized how fragile we really are. Her biopsy was on Valentines Day of all days. She went under the knife on March 8th and had her entire thyroid removed, and about 17 lymphnodes, of which 5 had cancer. She healed up and began the radiation pill therapy in May. Its been a few dark times but everyday is getting brighter. We have changed a little, especially my wife. Every time she feels tired, stomach cramp, the first thing that pops into her mind is cancer. She gets worried alot and it kills me that she has to live with this fear now. She had a blood test done in June and has another lab in August. The last time we met with the doctor in June he said "Well Mrs Aguirre, you are done, its over now, you can go on with your life." Well Let me tell you, I have experienced what real Joy is 4 times in my life, when my three kids were born and that day. We cried in the car outside and gave thanks to God. Still do... Well, I just wanted to share this with you guys and give a little hope to anyone who is going through this...... My wife is my hero now.

Prayers sent for your wife. I know what she and you are going through. I just got out of the hospital yesterday for the last surgery needed for colon cancer.

Frank, my thoughts are with you & your wife. I'm glad things are getting brighter for you both. Speaking from experience, every day is tough when a loved one is batteling such issues.

My honey's had health issues for several years. If you ever need to vent, complain, bitch, scream, or just talk to someone who knows EXACTLY what your going thru, pm me for a phone number. Sometimes being the caretaker is as bad as being the patient.

Be well, my friend. And the very best wishes to you both!!

Praise God that she has beat it. One of the most scarriest fealings is knowing you are powerless. That's exactly when we need to turn to God to give us strength.

So glad she has beat it!!!

Prayers to you and your wife, Frank! Thanks for the update. It is so good to hear she's doing great. I know how much worry can eat and someone, and anxiety by itself can manifest all types of other symptoms. As time goes on, I pray that your wife will learn to live her life without constantly jumping right to the c-word with every ache and pain. God bless both of you!

Good to know your wife recovered and felt better!
You need to be strong for her.

Very glad to hear that things worked out all right. Do be sure to get her screened regularly, at whatever intervals someone actually in the medical field recommends.
