    Hey guys,

Been a bit since ive been around. Just wanted to check in and let you guys know im doing ok. Still going through a rough patch, but doing ok. Working on myself and family first. I took the family on a car camping vacation last weekend to a beach about 4 hours from me. The wife (we are seperated but im working on that) enjoys camping but needs something besides the dance of a fire to keep her occupied, so we do whats more of "going to the beach and staying at a campgroud" kinda camping. Got off to a rough start, drove 4 hours after work on a friday, go to set up the tent and realize that im missing 3 poles. apparently they fell out of the bag during my hasty pack job. Paracord to the rescue and i was able to lash it to some trees. Enter 3 monsterous storms which wreaked havoc on our beach plans, and mostly made me worry about my make shift tent setup. Low and behold my skills are stil intact, not a drop of water made it inside the tent, not was there any poooling so aparently i stil gots it. haha. Now to the becker content (i got to it eventually moosez ) Ive gotten rid of most of my knives. Almost all. Since i realized i was using my hobby as a crutch and hideout from the stresses of marriage, kids, mortgages etc etc. I used to carry a fixed blade as my edc, particularly a bk14 in my back pocket. So i traded that in for a Victorinox huntsman. And it met my needs well over the past while and i didnt even touch another knife. But when packing for camping i needed to take something with a little more meat just in case. So i packed up the bk17, equipped with saint cutlery micarta and a sagewood gear sheath. One morning to get a fire started i realized i had used all of the ground laying kindling around our site, so i needed to make my own (either that or sneak into other sites and sgrab theirs) so i took out the 17 and started doing a little light batoning. Man let me tell you guys something, carry only a SAK for a bit and then go back to a becker and even the shorts seem like a huge piece of steel. I cant imagine what a bk2 would feel like right now. it was like ive never held this big of a knife before. weird. Nonetheless the bk17 got me going. Just wanted to share my observation of how much a beef a becker gives you. Hope you all are doing well. I still check in from time to time to make sure the place aint going to hell and ill keep doing so but i prob wont post much. Keep doing what your doing guys, and remember family comes first.

    BK5 for life haha

No pics of the actual trip because that would not be productive, but i remember how this works so heres some from today. Including my edc hustman.

Good to see you back Clich. I primarily carry my Wave, but many times I just carry an SAK. Even though I don't use it often, it does come in handy.

Good to see you back, OM! Even if you won't be here quite as often. You have been missed.

I still remember all the help you provided when I got my Rush 12 and couldn't figure how to attach a sheath to it! Your PM's complete with pictures got me over a rough spot.

    Thanks

Good to hear you are still kickin' man. Nice choice on the SAK. I never thought I would be carrying one thinking I wouldn't use anything other than the blade. Now I dont leave home without mine.

Thanks for checking back in and letting us know how your doing.

Really digging that BK17! I'll end up with one eventually, but I've got other things that go ahead of it in the line of priority. Hopefully you're able to smooth out the family stuff and keep everyone happy, since you're correct that family comes first. Best of luck!

good to hear from you - as to the huntsman, I've been carrying the one in my pocket since 92 or 93, so I can agree there's nothing wrong with them - and the back of the saw makes mad sparks on a firesteel.
