How to build a Carbidizer

I have seen homemade carbidizers in knife making/moding videos, however I haven't been able to find a complete walk through of how to make a dremel etching tool into a carbidizer. I understand the basics of how it works, but I was wondering what type of voltage regulator I would need, and where to purchase it. Also what should I use for the tip? Finally, if you think this process may be more of a pain than it is worth , who does offers a reasonably priced Carbidizing service? Thank you for your help in advance.

If you saw homemade carbidizer videos, odds are one was mine.

There are no walk throughs, or publicly available schematics.
And I'm not sharing any time soon, as there's been a deal struck with a manufacturer to make them.
For hopefully less than what is out there already.

If you understand the basics of how it works, it's easy...

Use carbide for the tip. Whichever kind of carbide you would like to apply.

The Bebe model shown is a fair deal.
By the time you buy all the parts, Dremel, enclosure, etc... you will be at 50% that price anyhow.
Price check the Rocklin models if you think the Bebe is expensive.

The Bebe is a decent little unit, it can be bought for about $200 if you shop around...and if you factor in your time, I doubt you could build a "one-off" much cheaper. As to finding someone to carbidize lock faces, have you tried looking in the "Services Offered" part of the Knifemakers Market?
