    Spear point with raw unfinished steel tang ??

    marked 1914 with the number 16 below it .... i dont even know where to begin researching this so any help would be appreciated ......the tang is 3/8's thick and the blade itself is 5 1/2''s long and 1'' an its widest point

    To me it looks like someone was in the middle of forging/hammering it and stopped... ???

    do they typically stamp knives before theyre finished ? .........i dont know just throwin out ideas

    It looks like one of the blades they forged from pieces of schrapnel but the date is a tad early for WW1.

    WWI souvenir made from shrapnel. See the 1914 16 date? Years of the war that the person was probably there.
