Lost two of my Spydercos lol

my daughters have now decided that 2 of my knives are now theirs. i have a 16 year old daughter who has always carried a folder of some type in her purse (which i have absolutely NO problem with) and yesterday while i was going thru some of my knives she decided to take a look thru my "stash" and took an instant liking to one of my Spydies...the Native. "can i have this knife dad?" she asked, so of course i said yes. she dug in her purse and gave me her mini-griptillian id gave her back, and dropped the Native in her purse with a smile one her face LOL...she knows how much i like that knife.

well who walks in my bedroom to see whats going on? my 12 year old who is even more interested in knives and instantly spotted my Manbug. shed never seen it and was instantly attracted to its small size. (shes a tiny thing with petite little hands)..."can i look at that little knife dad?"...so of course i handed it to her, and she opened it up closed it carefully and then informed me that if haley gets a new knife, she should get one as well. i knew right then my Manbug was now gonna be hers. i will admit tho that i told her a little white lie, when she asked what kinda knife it was, i told her a Spyderco LADYBUG. after i removed the lanyard off it, which she requested, the deal was sealed. so now my small collection of Spydercos has gotten even smaller, but at least i can say they are in good hands.

I have three daughters. None are old enough for knives, but I sure understand a Dad who is wrapped around his girls fingers! Thanks for sharing this story and keep up the great work with your girls! It's good to be a part of the Dad's with daughters club!

I recently really lost my para 2 20cp that i had just put custom scales on it. I dont have the slightest clue what happened to it. Bums me out for sure

agreed...they both started out with SAKs(which they still have), but for whatever reason they both seem more comfortable (safer closing) with the lockback style knives vs liner locks, so it was a perfect fit. while they are by no means tomboys, they both are experienced shooters as well and each have "their own" .22 carbines, so yeah, im a proud daddy

I hear you.
My son, 23 is not crazy about knives, but appreciate their practical use. Somehow my Caly3, SS Caly Jr and 75 mm Persian became his.
Also I have young nephew. He loves knives. When he was 12 he really liked my etched Dragonfly, now it lives in his house. BP Micro-Dyad moved into his domain in June. Not sure what will be the next: either 75 mm Persian or Orange Dodo. He loves both.

last black friday at A. G. Russsel. among other things I got my 10 year old a small byrd to learn a little more knife respect. She has a few other beater knives and my 8 year old has a basic scout/ SAK to fiddle with. I keep an eye on them and they are suppose to keep them in a mutual place so ma and pa can kinda keep track off them. when they gets a little bigger they may gets some bigger better stuff. Oh yeah my 8 year old has an old beater hatchet, wrapped in pink para cord, and she is ready to flail on anything at a moments notice.

Keep on giving them girl some good gifts from daddy.

im hoping to pass one of my many passions on to the next generation. just like my father did to me and his father did as well. around here (rural Iowa) thats a very common tradition.... hunting, shooting, fishing, gardening keeps families together

My daughter started collecting Spyderco knives when she was 10 or so (she is now 15). She doesn't have a large collection, but she has a few. The last one she got was the burgundy Meerkat, to complement her blue one. She likes the smaller knives and finds the native too large. I think the largest one she has is the Rookie. She likes my Techno and may be saving for one...

I scrimp and save so that I can purchase an item that will last. They are definately for my enjoyment, but hopefully my kids and their kids will have an item to have just one other link to me. My kids know the rule, you sell a knife or gun that I give you I will haunt you when I die relentlessly. Yeah it gives a few bad dreams here and there, but that's life you know!?

A few years ago my daughter decided she wanted a knife. I was envisioning something small like a ladybug but she picked out a black/black mini-griptilian. A few months ago I bought her a green Tenacious to replace it.

My son occasionally swipes my Delica 4. Any time I'm missing one of my cutters, I look in his Scout drawer. (That's where all his Scouting gear is.) I usually find it there.

My wife stole my Spyderco Bug the day I got it.

Now, any normal guy with a backbone would put his foot down and reclaim what's his. Maybe I will next week.
